We made it through the hottest part of the summer then we had another hot streak in September. I got home from work and the lights flickered. I thought maybe it was just an issue with the electrical grid because it was so hot. When the kids went to bed that night it felt warm, so I started looking at the A/C. I went outside and flipped the breaker and it came right back on. I thought we were in the clear, but it was making a rattling noise and then blew again and the breaker would blow immediately every time I flipped it. It was 9 o’clock at night and I wasn’t sure what to do. We had the kids sleep on air mattresses downstairs and then I started doing my research on what to do. First, I called the manufacturer of my current unit and they said it wasn’t under warranty. We were 9 years out from moving into the new home and they said the paperwork wasn’t filed on time, so it was going to only be a 5 year warranty. While I was trying to figure that out, I started looking for a replacement for the unit, since the year prior I had to have it charged with freon. I called a couple of places that I found online and an HVAC company that my family had used when they replaced their unit. There wasn’t anybody that I called that would give me a price over the phone. They wanted me to wait and have a sales person call me back. I told them I needed to figure this out quick since we didn’t have air conditioning and it was going to be hot for a while. I finally found HVAC Home Supply. It was great, they had their pricing listed right on their website. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a bait and switch, so I called in to speak to someone. I got to work with Micah. Micah was empathetic and super knowledgeable. I told him that I was trying to get the company to honor their warranty, but I really just wanted to replace the unit and never use that company again. Micah spent a ton of time explaining the different units and helping me find something that worked for me. We got down to a Lennox and a Trane unit. Micah checked on the availability of the two units and told me that I could get the Lennox installed the next morning or we would have to wait for the Trane because there was a backorder on a piece of the Trane unit that I was wanting. Micah told me that they were both great systems and he was able to provide a timeline for the backordered part. It was going to take 5 days. My wife and I decided to wait for the Trane to come in, since it was only a few days. Micah had everything lined up and ready to go for that day that we were expecting the unit, so we wouldn’t have to wait for the install date. When the installers got there they noticed that I had ordered the more efficient gas furnace (96% efficient), but I didn’t have the appropriate piping and insulation for that unit. My house was built for the 80% efficient unit. I didn’t understand much of it, but Micah called and explained it over the phone to me and explained the roofing and insulation, but said he could pick up the other unit. He let me know that if they changed out the unit, the unit would be cheaper as well. Micah had the part there within an hour and they were able to get everything installed and he sent me the price difference back. My kids appreciated finally being able to sleep in their beds that night. The installers were polite and explained things to me and they did a great job cleaning up after themselves. I felt like other contractors were like sharks and could smell the chum in the water when I let them know my A/C was out and it was hot outside. This was a great experience and much better than other experiences I have had with contractors. After finally getting the homebuilder involved with the previous A/C we were finally able to get them to honor the warranty, but I was able to get a new A/C installed by HVAC Home Supply faster than it took just to get the other company to honor their warranty. We are still happy that we got the new unit installed. It is so much nicer than the old junk that we had.

Price is always important, but if youre not getting good customer service does it matter? The customer service from this group has been outstanding. They were very patient and answered all questions that we had. Not to mention they saved us thousands of dollars compared to the other two quotes that we had.
