    I got stuck in a sticky roomate situation and kaylie was amazing at helping me through everything and helping me make sure hillside stayed my home! kaylie deserves a giant raise!with that being said.. its a VERY hard and frustrating process to try and drop people from a lease and transfer apartments but kaylie was amazing at helping me!

    This is my 3rd year at Hillside & I love it! Itā€™s been the best complex Iā€™ve lived at in San Marcos.Maintenance is extremely fast & I never have an issue with parking. My favorite parts are the Amazon hub locker & that the shuttle to campus is less than 10 minutes, at my old complex the shuttle took 20-30 minutes.Iā€™m already ready to renew my lease for next term, since spots fill up so fast here!

    I lived here for 2 years and it was a really good experience. maintenance is great and staff is kind. yeah thereā€™s some cons like parking can be small and thereā€™s only 2 garbage bins for the whole complex but itā€™s nothing terrible.

    I have lived at Hillside for the past 3 years of college and the first I lived in the dorms. Hillside has always made me feel at home and it is such a great community. I love the cottage homes and the staff here is so so kind. Sadie at hillside ranch has made my experience so heart warming and she goes above and beyond for residents comfort and she is so helpful. I would recommend students living here especially if you enjoy feeling homey. It really feels like a little neighborhood :)

    Lived in a 1 bedroom at Hillside for a year and a half! It has truly felt like home! The office staff has always been so nice, and the amenities never failed me. I never had a problem with maintenance either! I submitted a request for a small problem on my balcony and within 20 minutes they came over to fix it! I am sad to leave and the only reason I am is because I am graduating soon and leaving SM. This is definitely one of the best options in SanMo for apartments! They also have super sweet treats given to residents for free very often including funnel cakes, donuts, free coffee, ice cream, and much more!

    Hillside Ranch Apartments is an awesome place to call home. They have without a doubt provided me with my best living experience since moving away from parents. The staff is always super friendly, very polite, and extremely understanding. I love going to the office to use their Keurig machine and chat with the leasing agents. Theyve always worked with me on any problems I had and resolved them quickly. I could not be happier with the maintenance staff here; Ive never submitted a work order without them coming out the same day to fix the issue. Not only are the people that maintain the apartments outstanding but also the location could not be better in my opinion. Its a short 10 minute walk to campus which was always faster than taking the bus. Before signing with Hillside Ranch Apartments I did a lot of research and touring other places. Im so glad this is where I chose to call home and I wouldnt trade my time here for any other deal.

    I just recently moved back to San Marcos, so I was anxious about being in a new apartment at a new complex, but Hillside made the transition so easy. With our furnished apartment, my roommates and I only had to bring the basics. Our bathrooms and bedrooms are huge, and our dog has so much room! Not to mention the trail we walk him on, as well as the close proximity to campus and everything else in town. The staff in the office is always so helpful, as well. Hillside was a great choice!

    Lived here for two years and have really enjoyed it. The first year I shared a two bedroom on the third floor and the layout was perfect because the rooms were on opposite sides of the unit and being on the top floor meant minimal noise. This year I had a one bedroom and really enjoyed it as well. Never have had an issue with management. As for the complaints about the water being shut off, the city is doing road work that is scheduled to end in the fall of 2017 and they were responsible for unscheduled shut offs. The apartment had no control over the matter and once they noticed the frequency they tried to warn us as often as they could. Im really happy with the complex and would recommend to a friend. I just wish people would pick up after their dogs.

    Great experience! Barbara helped me find my favorite floor plan! She made me super excited to live here!!They also have events all the time in the front office for their residents and itā€™s actually so nice!

    I recently moved here and went from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom and I was worried about the size, but the space is great! The apartment is very homey and spacious and the location is perfect for campus and downtown. The maintenance team is great on getting things done quickly and the office staff is very friendly!

    Love this place!! Staff is so friendly. Jaemie and Katie go out of their way to make sure your concerns and questions are addressed. Service team is always on top of work orders and gets them done quickly. Location to campus cant be beat. Parking is going to be tight anywhere close to campus. It comes with the territory. Truthfully, there isnt much the front office can do about it, so yelling at them, or getting your parents to, wont magically make more parking appear. Next time maybe take this into consideration as one of your needs for your next apartment. Youll find yourself paying a pretty premium or farther from campus. They have awesome amenities. The gym and pool/grills are my favorite!!

    My roommates and I moved here for the close proximity to campus and the walking trails for our dog, but we got so much more! The rooms are HUGE and the amenities are incredible. At least once a month the clubhouse has free food or hosts fun activities and theres always chances to get rewards through the resident rewards program. The staff is incredible; the maintenance team is quick to address any issue we have and the front desk is always ready to answer even our silliest questions (thanks Darby :) ). A great place to live!

    I have resided at Hillside for over two years and the management is terrible. They are very kind and sweet to you before you sign the lease. Yet once that lease is signed, they dont seem to care as much about you. They have your money! I have recently encountered the office management and I do believe they are improving. The parking is HORRIBLE and even though you paid for a spot, its not guaranteed. So prepare for a parking ticket from the City of San Marcos or San Marcos PD when you are forced to make a parking spot. There is a tow truck company that tows, yet the majority of the cars are residents. Visitor parking is probably about 20 spots and thats it. YOUR GUESTS WILL GET TOWED IF THEY PARK ANYWHERE OTHER THAN VISITOR PARKING. Hillside finally acknowledges that there is a parking problem, yet has done nothing to take care of it. Overall, this place features a wonderful location for a somewhat reasonable price. After touring one or two other apartment complexes, I will be resigning with hillside. The quality is among the best in San Marcos.

    I love Hillside Ranch. The apartments are nice, clean and the interior design is always kept up to date.The facilities also include a spacious state-of-the-art gym, swimming pool and tanning room. I lived there for 4 years and found that the atmosphere of the community was very friendly. Katie, Jamie, and the office staff are incredibly helpful and maintenance is top notch. No one knows the apartment game better than Hillside Ranch.

    I lived at Hillside Ranch for 3 years, had an amazing stay. Numerous resident events to get you involved in the community or just free food. Maintenance was extremely punctual and thorough. The front office always went above and beyond to help with issues of all varieties. Especially management, jaemie I believe is the assistant was great.Even the grounds and upkeep of the property really made you feel comfortable/clean and safe.Would recommend.

    Hillside is a great living experience for college students at Texas State. The amenities include a gym, study lounge, Amazon hub lockers, and a shuttle to and from campus! I have lived here for three years and the maintenance and staff are super friendly and quick to respond. The floor plans are very open and have a homey feel compared to other complexā€™s in San Marcos.

    Lived her for almost three years now, signing my last lease with them in a few weeks due to graduating. I live in the Fredericksburg layout (1/1 unfurnished). At the time, it was one of the biggest one bedroom apartments in San Marcos. I live right next to the dog park and right in front of the trails behind hillside. My only complaint is rent goes up a little bit if you dont renew quickly but it is what it is. 10/10 recommend

    This is the second time Ive chosen to live here, so, that should say a lot in and of itself. I moved in for one semester, loved the convenience of being the first stop on a ten minute bus ride to campus, had a third floor unit overlooking the pool, and everyone from the maintenance guys to the leasing office staff were extremely easy to work with. I moved to a different complex, just to see what else was out there, and I quickly realized how inconvenient some other locations are, with regards to traffic, 45 minute bus commutes, and not being able to walk or ride my bike to campus, without playing frogger with cars amidst the construction going on. So, I moved back. Katie, the leasing manager, was overly helpful with everything from timelines, paperwork, and especially getting me back into a third floor unit (I just like the third floor). Mari and Melissa were the only two staff members who are still here, simply because theyve hired a lot of people to deal with the heavy turnover. Its cyclical in San Marcos, simply because its a college town. Heavy move-in and move-outs are on the same schedule as fall and spring semesters beginning or ending. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff I know personally. Katie wasnt the leasing manager when I moved in the first time, but she did work here, and has done an exceptional job after her transition to manager. Someone always complains about something, be it pool noise, party noise, parking, etc., in any college apartment complex. But, at the end of the day, this place has the best location, in my opinion, and most of the residents I know here are older than the average freshmen or sophomore, some are grad students, etc., so its pretty quiet. Anything Ive ever needed has been handled immediately and respectfully. Its all about the relationships you make with people, in any situation. Treat people with common courtesy and youll get the same in return. Id definitely recommend Hillside Ranch, to anyone.

    Ive been living at hillside for about 8 months now. Ive never had any issues and the office staff has always been kind to me. If I wasnt graduating in December I would continue living here. I frequently go to the clubhouse to do homework and the printers always work unlike other apartment complexes I lived at. Theyre also very clear about towing anyone who doesnt have a parking pass which is helpful because parking can get very limited at times. But, they do have visitor parking and there are nearby streets visitors can park on.

I had lƩah and she was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and thorough when explaining the application process and helping me to get the best thing for me.     Besides being one of the best places Iā€™ve lived, apartment wise, the whole community is extremely nice and kept up with well. The staff in the office is friendly, helpful, and the maintenance staff is on top of all the requests I put it and got things fixed quickly. Jaemie in the office is not only very nice but is very good at her job and makes herself available to help with whatever you need.

    This place was a great first apartment for me and my boyfriend! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely one of the cheaper places to live in San Marcos! Only think I wish is that they had a bigger dog park and that the apartment side units were a little more updated!

    Its not cheap, but theyd be fair to charge WAYYY more (And I say that on my own making minimum). The only way you dont give this place five stars is if youve never lived anywhere else and youre under the impression that magical fairy pixies clean everything up and keep everything in order and even then the maintenance people would give them a run for their money. The office staff is consistently nice and friendly. Weve always been treated with respect by them and have had pretty much 0 issues with them. The only complaints we have had is that there was a change in the floor colors from the model to the apartment we received (more of an issue with the Fiance than me) and its something that doesnt even put a dent in the seriously supreme effort put in by the maintenance staffs speed and the office staffs effort. There are events hosted at the beginning of semesters for students where free food is held and there are others spread out throughout the year with games and movies. This place is fantastic, were sad to have to be leaving back to Houston, its definitely one of the things well miss.

    Hillside Ranch is the best! Perfect location and their staff is so helpful! We had a leak in our front window then there was a rain storm and water came in the living room, we put in a work order online and a crew of two maintenance guys come over to take a look at the problem. I was so surprised how quickly they showed up! Even though they could repair the window until the rain stopped and the ground dried a bit, the same guys came back and let us know they had finished repairing the damage, on only a few hours! So fast! We were so thankful because the rain wasnā€™t over we ended up having another rain storm the next weekend- weā€™re so glad we live in such a great appartment complex!

    PROS:-This is a great location for students with the shuttle stop nearby!--Maintenance team responses promptly and the gym is well maintained!!-It is a bit pricey but not too bad if you have a roommate.PERSONAL CONCERN:Late March: Since Nov last year, for some days, I could smell a neighbor smoking weed? (even right now) so strong that cannot open my windows as it gives me headaches :( At least it has not been getting into my apt recently. Honestly, not sure if the agency can do anything about it although myself and others did address it to them several times. If you are sensitive to smell, keep this in mind that this is a possibility. Hopefully, this doesnt repeat for whoever takes my apt. Otherwise, enjoyed living here!RECOMMENDATIONS:-Units on the back side of the bld is recommended if you are sensitive to noise from the parking area.-Units on the front is recommended if you dont like bugs. If you dont mind the stairs higher floors are relatively quiet but surely will get some good exercise!-Overall, apartments near the campus have a leasing term that makes it hard for you to move to another one (there tends to be abt two weeks of a gap).

    I do love hillside for its location, spacious rooms, and beautiful area. The main issue for me currently is that we are paying full in rent when we arent getting full access to things included with what were paying for (pool is closed, you have to make reservations for gym when many other complexes arent doing that, etc) I just think maybe a gift card or something could work but other than that, I do like it!

    This is the first year I have lived at Hillside Ranch on the cottage side and I have resigned for next year. The units are very spacious and updated, any maintenance requests are taken care of right away, and its a very quiet place to live! Hillside Ranch is in a very convenient location walking distance from campus and overall good price for the quality.

    As a realtor and a mom, it is very important to me that my daughter lives somewhere I feel she is safe, and I know she will be happy, Hillside is that place and more! The staff is friendly and helpful and always goes above and beyond. We are glad to call this place home for our girl!

    Personally I think its ridiculous when people give 1 star. You have obviously never lived in a real 1 star apt or had a fluke incident. Lol at the price is too high did you sign with youre eyes closed. This review is for the apt side, everything was great no issues with appliances/unit, staff was friendly and honest plus huge bonus for being close to campus and not being a party complex (no noise complaints). Nobodys perfect however and the issue with hillside is the parking, if you get home after 1am its tough to get a spot. But thats not a reason not to live here

    I have lived here since August 2018 and I love it. They are always so sweet in the office and are constantly coming up with ways to have resident involvement. While it is slightly pricey I believe it to be completely worth the money and love being a resident.

    I absolutely love Hillside Ranch!! Maintenance is always quick and on-top of anything that needs to be fixed! Hillside ranch is very close to Texas States campus which allows me to walk to class if I need to, so I am never late to classes! It also has great amenities, which is an added plus! I highly recommend Hillside Ranch, it is a great place to live!!

    Very polite, helpful, and homey environmentā€”> UPDATE 9/23/19: I retract my previous statement that. Overall my initial experience was pleasant then after a year of living here after my old Roomate moved out I was never notified that anyone was ever going to be coming in or out of my apartment for cleaning, etc. The only way I was noticed was the head of maintenance (I assume) was kind enough to let me know that he and his crew would be in early morning the next day. Then a few months later when he water went out it was almost a week without running water I had left for the weekend in hopes that it would be back on when I came back but unfortunately it wasnā€™t. I understand that things happen however they couldā€™ve informed their residents more fully of the situation. One problem Iā€™ve always had here is parking, THERE IS NOT ENOUGH OF IT! My boyfriend is my only form of transportation and we actively seek out parking spots, there have been times when I have not been able to stay in the comfort of my own home because of the lack of parking (due to fear of being towed, which has already happened twice now). Then when we park in the ā€œfuture residentsā€ spot which is a visitors spot because it is reserved for people who donā€™t live there we are greeted with a note threatening to tow the car even when itā€™s parked in a visitors spot. I feel that because I do not have the funds to have my own vehicle that I am being penalized due to their unfair policies, because they ā€œlack parking for their residents and administrationā€. So they realize that itā€™s a problem yet they donā€™t do anything about it because it doesnā€™t directly affect them.
