After looking for what seemed like forever and wasting money on application fees, my sister in law found Mary Vanlandingham (we have dubbed her Saint Mary 😂) just by doing a google search. We had about a 10 minute conversation where I explained my situation and what I was working with. She told me she was going to get to work on finding me something and would give me a call back. At this point I felt defeated and did not expect to hear from her any time soon. Not even 20 minutes later she called to inform me she found exactly what I needed, in my price range and in the area I asked for. I recently found myself in the difficult position of having to move to San Antonio from New Mexico to start a new job but without a place to live. I had just graduated with a masters degree and secured a dream job with a local non-profit. My efforts to find a place on my own werent going well. Obviously, the explosive growth in the rental market here has created a sort of sellers market. I found myself at the mercy of apartment managers who seemed unanimously indifferent to my situation. After spending days trying to find a place here from out of state, I had to pack the moving truck and take a leap of faith.It wasnt long before I realized that being in town wasnt going to help much either. I was constantly hitting dead ends and on the verge of getting back in the truck and moving home when—on a whim—I contacted the Apartments Now location in San Marcos. One of their agents was so helpful and referred me to this location where I set an appointment with an agent the next morning. I gave him my information and got my first good nights sleep in days.Fortunately, this San Antonio agent took another client and missed our appointment. I say fortunately because if he hadnt flaked out I would not have had the chance to work with the kind and wonderful Troi. She listened to my story, took me and my ever-increasing anxiety on her shoulders, built a list of places for me to look at based on my limited grad student income, and did not stop working until we found the right fit hours later. She was patient and reassuring and never gave up. As a result, I have made a great life here in San Antonio working to promote literacy and community. Had it not been for Troi, I would have had to walk away from an otherwise perfect opportunity. If I could give Troi a five hundred star review, I would do so happily. We had a great Apartments Now experience. The staff seemed very happy to be working there. Our great Apartments Now experience is mainly due to the expertise of our agent Marcus. Working with this man we were able to rent an apartment on the second try.On the first try Marcus took us to see an apartment that we liked and went through all the paperwork and put down a deposit. After many requests from this complex for financial backups which went on all day and into the next, and into the next, we were approved. But when we went back to the complex they did some slight of hand and said we rented another apartment—not the one we saw. Marcus, after speaking to the apartment complex, asked us if we’d like to back out of the deal and we said we would!Nothing flusters Marcus, and in a nice comforting manner he said “let’s find you another one “… which he did the next day!

Ive moved quite a bit in my life, and Apartments Now makes the process about as stress free as you can imagine. Im writing this review after working with Apartments Now for my second time.Mary C worked with my partner and I this time. We started looking at a time when apartments were at about full capacity, and we know this is true because we had look online and visited complexes ourselves to see what was available. Mary did everything she could to only consider apartments within our admittedly pretty strict wants list. She asked if wed be interested in looking just a little bit outside of our desired area and found the perfect place for us. It was the first location we visited and we fell in love. We didnt even pay attention to the second complex we were still thinking about the first one she took us to. Honestly, Im struggling to think of ANY compromises we had to make with this location.After we visited the complexes with Mary (only two because we loved the first one so much) we went out to lunch and then went back to the complex we loved to apply. We were approved within a few hours. Mary followed up with us multiple times to make sure we had everything in order and even contacted the complex us for us to make sure our application, move in date, and lease were all being processed. At no point did I ever feel like Mary was doing anything but to make us happy and look out for our best interests. The process was fun, light hearted, and easy and she found us a place that wasnt even on our radar.I will continue to use Apartments Now for as long as I live in San Antonio and Ill make sure to request Mary the next time I go.
