This was my initial post dating back to when we started our build with Perry Homes:Much like the experience at another location, the Perry experience was equally good here. They were very well prepared, had answers to all our questions and very accommodating. It feels right to do business with this company so we moved forward. More to come. Now for the rest of the story:Things were great up until the point we signed the contract. They deteriorated from there. Ill cover the highlights anyone who is building with them should be aware of.First, once the ink is dry on your contract, youre at their mercy. The person you sign the contract with is the primary person you will work with when you raise concerns through out the project. In our case, our salespersons demeanor changed. She went from accommodating to down right rude at times, even to go so far as to make accusations which were patently false. It got so bad that we dreaded working with her because of how she would respond to things. Our neighbor noted the same thing. We concluded she needs to be reminded that she is in a service and sales role. You can tell a customer no, you dont have to be rude, disrespectful or operate with questionable integrity. Now on to the positive. Our project managers (Cesar and Brandon) were and continue to be exceptional people. They have a customer service mentality and they worked really hard to help us.Now 2 months after close, were still chasing down a punch list of items with no end in sight to have them addressed. They have to come back 2 and 3 times to finish things and the quality of their work is often poor. Meanwhile, Perry is busy building other homes now, ones without buyers. That only makes it all the more frustrating.I could make the case that our items are small and insignificant, but thats not the point. We could have refused to close on the house to maintain some form of leverage to ensure things were getting done with a sense of commitment. We didnt and in retrospect we should have. As I stated, we are still waiting on things to be remedied 2 months after closing. The largest concern being a drainage problem between two houses. They tell us its built to the standard for Conroe, yet we continue to have problems draining only that part of the yard. Theyll say its because it is shaded but so too are other parts of our yard. Its a grading issue which has been validated by 3 independent parties with knowledge of grading. Perry knows this but ultimately it will be on us to address.Last point is on their technology provider Home Pro. Theyre just awful to work with at the manager or sales level, but like Perry, when you get to the job site, they are nice people who try hard, but are at the mercy of someone back in an office who knows something isnt right and doesnt care to fix it. We had numerous issues with cabling, Google Doorbells, thermostats, etc. Thank goodness I know a thing or two about technology because it took all my knowledge and then some to get things working. They had no real sense and worse could seemingly careless about fixing it.My parting piece of advice is to stay on them. Visit the construction site often. Take notes, and dont be afraid to push them. Theyre not going to like it, and in fact will tell you not to come on the site, but you should absolutely do so. By all means pay the extra money for a home inspection. It will be well worth it. Our inspection found electric, HVAC and window seal issues. Had we not paid for this, Perry would not have fixed it on their own. -
