A good friend of mine reached out to me earlier today to ask about buying a place in Austin and asked if I had any recommendations or knew anyone. I did not pause to think- I knew the answer and said it immediately: Katie! In 2019, Katie was my realtor/angel regarding real estate and answered the many (mostly ridiculous) questions I had. When my husband and I relocated to the Austin area, our previous realtor highly recommended Katie. In fact, she said Katie was THE best realtor in Austin, and she wanted to make sure we were taken care of. She was 100% correct and fast forward several years - Katie is still taking care of us. She helped us find the right home for us at the time of relocating here. She filled us in on all the Austin area things to know! Having grown up here, she really knows so much. A couple of years later,, we told her we were ready to sell (the house we bought with her help) and buy our forever home and had very specific requests. She worked with us for months and months and drove all over the Austin area (up to an hour outside Austin in all directions). We learned more about Katie & how she knows all about plants and wildlife as we put on our hiking boots and walked property after property and took them off to tour the homes too! To us, it seemed like a lot to ask of her. If it was a lot for her, we never felt it! She approached everything with an incredibly positive attitude, and she would make sure we were the first in to see a new listing if at all possible. When we found our new home, she sold our previous home fast! The first showing and we were done. We also were the first showing on the next home we purchased. We recommend Katie to anyone needing a realtor. The most important things about Katie - you will feel at ease knowing that she has so much knowledge to help you find and navigate the buy/sell process, she has all the connections you will need and that she will ALWAYS advocate for you when you are her client. Katie represented us on the purchase of Lake Travis area property. We had submitted offers on a few properties but were outbid. Katie kept looking and ultimately found an opportunity that fit our requirements and we successfully purchased with Katie’s support. I have bought and sold many properties and Ms Katie Johnston is a consummate professional. Selling my property proved to be very challenging....not the property itself but events due to a prolonged closing, a difficult buyers agent and other issues. Katie was so calm, always professional and most importantly never stopped communicating. Even when there was nothing to report I would get a text or a call keeping me in the loop. Always thought that we’d have more time before deciding to sell the house that dad built before dementia. He crafted this place (almost by himself) for his family with wood from McCoy’s on Highway 71 near Bee Cave and stones from Lake Travis but we could not live in the past and this was not a place for everyone because he built this for us.Thankfully, Katie knew this place as her own, and I would challenge you to find a more knowledgeable realtor in Central Texas. We have known each other since second grade but this is not the reason that we chose her to handle the numerous mundane details including tedious inspections, paperwork, and countless low-ball offers from people who thought that we were desperate. Child, please.Instead, we knew that Katie (more than anyone else) would see the value in this place for its people, its history, its stories, and with the innate sensitivity of a daughter who loved her dad as much as we did.
