    In our 30+ years of home ownership in both Dallas and Austin, we were frequently faced with onerous property tax appraisals. My wife and I protested the most egregious of these and while we were more often than not successful in getting some reduction, it required a ton of leg work/preparation on our part (e.g., getting legitimate advantageous comparables, identifying square footage errors, finding home class code discrepancies, highlighting unfinished property areas, etc.). In 2020, our son told us about Home Tax Shield and we decided to give them a shot at doing all of this work for us. To make a long story short, those initial results blew us away and consequently they have represented us for all 5 of the years since then and gotten us a significant reduction in literally every year! Last but not least, their process is virtually effortless for the homeowner (you get regular process status update emails) and their fee percentage is more than reasonable for both the incredible savings weve realized as well as the elimination of all of the time, effort and stress on our part!

There is a fee to utilize the service and an additional fee if they are successful in negotiating a lower home value. In our case, they have successfully negotiated lower appraised home values for two consecutive years. There was minimal required involvement or assistance from us.     Their services have proved effective, I think because they research their comps well.     Protesting taxes is something almost everyone wants to do but dreads doing and then doesnt do at all. When I heard about Home Tax Shield, it was too simple and easy NOT to try. The first payment is to get started, they do all the leg work, and the cost is super reasonable. IF they find savings, you only pay a % of what you save - so its a win/win. The alternative is doing it myself, which doesnt sound fun at all.

Whether theres a reduction or not, $30/property/year is worth every penny knowing someone is fighting to lower my tax while I delegate time and energy elsewhere.
