What was amazing ;We have recently been in a position to sell one of our companies. Ryan Eastwood left a brochure on our door and even though we’ve never heard of Transworld we were willing to take the risk. I’ve been a part of quite a few mergers and acquisitions and was extremely impressed with him. The sale was not without mistakes, but all things said it went extremely well. From the time that I had an initial conversation with Ryan to the time that we had money in our hands, was less than three months! I contribute a lot of this to Ryan.He handled himself professionally and was very willing to listen and take advice on how I wanted to structure the sale. I’m not an easy client to deal with, as I know more about acquisitions and mergers than most brokers do. I had previously fired two other brokers on this deal and it was mostly due to their unwillingness to understand that I wanted it done a certain way. For a new owner to be successful in our industry I wanted a certain type of buyer and that meant we were going to turn quite a few potential LOI‘s away. Ryan worked with me step-by-step and made everything turn out the way that we had anticipated. I would highly recommend him as an excellent partner and team member to any company wanting to sell.What could have improved;The buying party was represented by Transworld as well. Conversely to my experience with Ryan, their broker might have been the worst I’ve ever met. Shawn Boedecker, continuously tried to renegotiate the deal even after both parties had agreed. Multiple times he tried to make the sale too complicated and caused issues that even the buyer was not in agreement with. We almost walked away from the sale in the buyer three times due to his miss handling of the deal. I can understand trying to get your clients the best portion but he seem to have an extreme lack of understanding on social skills and even ethics. At one point, towards the end he hit us (the seller) with a calculation that would have left us paying a fairly large check to the buyer after the sale. Fortunately, due to his lack of understanding about the company, his calculation was incorrect and in fact the buyer was going to owe us about another $40-$50,000! we did end up letting them off the hook on this but I would’ve been livid had I’ve been a buyer and I could’ve very easily (as the seller) not let them out of this responsibility since they brought it up and negotiated it at the very end of the sale. I did not appreciate his negotiating style and it definitely left a sour taste in my mouth towards Transworld that he would work for them. I would stay away from this broker unless you want to lose deals and have him cost you money.

Since moving to the US I got the feeling that everyone I am dealing with is relaxed, you call on Monday no one answers you until Tuesday, once its Thursday afternoon everyone gets back to weekend mode and they start giving excuses and tell you to call back next week. Except for Linda Broom from Transworld, she was on top of the job, she never dont answer her phone, she gives you appointments in the weekends, she answers her email even at night. I wish everyone is like her.
