Trapped. Our situation boxed us in.We lived in a home that was too small for our needs. We bought the house to accommodate a home office and two children, but soon found ourselves displaced by a live-in grandparent with special needs consuming a huge portion of our home.Years of normal wear, a bit of damage, and two energetic children left the house with tens of thousands of dollars in estimated repairs. That, on top of the constant mess left us deeply embarrassed to invite friends over to visit, and depressed about the futility of keeping up the house properly.Super hot temperatures, rising expenses, and an increasingly disagreeable neighborhood convinced us of the need to move on. But as small business owners, we had no W2 to show to bankers, and our uneven and turbulent month-to-month profits and losses provided no comfort to would-be lenders. Add to that somewhat blemished credit due to the strain of supporting our household during the early lean years in business and before. And thats why, in spite of continuous year-over-year improvements, we nonetheless felt completely and hopelessly trapped. Isolated. Alone. That was our situation. We met Suzanne Duvall with FASTT Homes at a local networking event in Forney TX. In her introduction, she spoke about helping people get out of variously difficult situations. But in America, were raised to believe in pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps, that asking for help is admitting failure and should be done only as a last resort. And so we endured.Sadly, it took years to get over ourselves and finally invite Suzanne in. When we sat down, we explained everything, and so began the process. She opened up a notebook and began asking questions, writing down numbers, and educated us about her craft. It wasnt a lecture; it was a journey. As she learned about our messed up little world, we learned also. She wasnt just transparent about the plan; through education and insistence on helping us understand, she was able to obtained truly well-informed consent.Even still, we took our time making the decision. We had questions. We had concerns. We were downright scared at times. And Suzanne was there for us at every step. For every question we had, she had an answer (or found one). For every concern, she offered compassionate counsel. And for every fear of the unknown, she provided light to guide our way.And that involvement didnt end when the ink dried and the money moved.Suzanne stayed involved. She helped us choose our new home; helped teach us what questions to ask, what pitfalls to look out for. She provided guidance and continues to even months after we moved into our new home. There are plenty of decisions in life that I look back upon with regret. Choosing to work with FASTT Homes will never be one of them.Thank you to the entire FASTT Homes family.
