    Best place to stay with family. So much to do all in walking distance and all in the complex. You can walk to the beach, tennis, volleyball, deep pool, pickle ball, basketball. Plenty of Green space to grill out and throw around a football/frisbee/soccer ball etc.. Views and sounds of the Gulf.. great place!So many options of places to stay to fit your lifestyle. Love Island Retreat

    I rented a breach front condo on the first floor the year after Hurricane Harvey. There weren’t many units open yet so we were one of the few families visiting. The pools were clean and well maintained. The boardwalk to the beach was a highlight for the kids.The year after that trip we had a second floor beach view owned by the same person. It was newly renovated, the set up made the whole beach experience so much better.The property has security which is nice, especially on weekends when it gets busy.I believe the condos come with a full kitchen, fully stocked with kitchen utensils.They have the best bang for your Buck!The only downfall is the property isn’t pet friendly so we have booked here in a while.

    As usual the unit was very clean, comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen. This wasnt our first visit. This is an older resort but is very affordable & decorated with adorable beach themed in every unit weve stayed in so far. My family & I had a great time and will be coming again soon.

    Enjoying the company condo this weekend! They have rebuilt the whole place and it’s very nice. Kid friendly, but no pets, two pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, bbq pits, and very close to the beach with a board walk!You’ll enjoy your stay!!!

    We stayed in unit 171, 3 bedrooms, plenty of living area, lovely huge porch to enjoy dunes, ocean breeze and sounds of theocean. We also used the pool, noticed they had tennis, pickle ball and basketball courts. I think they may have golf but not sure. Walked the beach often, close access to the cut thru. Loved this place! Highly recommend!

    This resort is located to what is central of Port Aransas with a short walk to the beach and short driving distance to shops and restaurants. The rooms were very nice and accommodating and they include a small kitchen with a stove and dishwasher. It also has a medium sized living room with access to a balcony. In our resort we had 3 rooms, 2 with queen beds and one with 2 full sized mattresses that were pretty comfortable. The bathroom was great as well and the resort provided a few towels, although i suggest bringing a few of your own just in case. Hand soap and lotion available as well. The stacked washer/dryer combo is also available for use! Please tidy up and sweep up the sand you drag in :)

    Nice place, great access to beach about 350ft. TV in every bedroom, stream apple tv, roku, etc only Living room tv stand has cabinet of various board games. Nitpicks: remember to bring your own towels and toliet paper, only one set of towels provided, the toliet paper provided is only 1 ply, toliet paper holder is a bar bolted on sink next to toilets, has no stop tab(to keep the roll on the bar) on end, so as you pull the roll it moves off the bar and falls on the floor. Water pressure on sinks in bathrooms turned on full blast is half strength, vs how you would expect it to be with both handles pulled. The bathroom mirror hides a window. Door has electronic code lock. It is very important to pull door tightly fully shut, and pull door towards you before you enter code, as the door might make multiple clicks but refuse to unlock, kind of tricky had to call after hours help line to find this out.

    Been coming for many years and always a great getaway. Has its own beach walkway which is nice. We usually have a large set up so we do have to drive to the beach to set up for the day which it sits in between two beach entrances. we went the week of Hurricane Beryl and everyone was very accommodating with the whole situation

    Had a great stay at one of the Island Retreat condos on the beach in Port Aransas. Very clean, cute, well appointed with direct beach access. Surf view from the lanai and quick access to the main business district. Will stay here again!

    We had a small problem getting into our place to stay. Called the emergency line with no response. Found out you can only open the door if you turn the handle counterclockwise. The room was clean and stocked. Staff was friendly. Beds are exceptionally comfortably! Better than my own at home. Definitely would recommend. The name we stayed at was On The Half Shelf

    Booked this place and loved it. We will come back to this condo for future family trips! It was able to accommodate my family (3) my two parents, my sisters family (3) and it was still so spacious! Walk to the beach was short but had a pool, and available outside shower to rinse off and plenty of pits to grill. The inside appliances looked brand new and had available washer & dryer.

    Our TV wasn’t working but they fixed it once we addressed the issue. The beach access was also very nice. Our network was also trash though.

    We had a couple of fun days here. All the units are different, the one we rented was nicely furnished, fluffy towels in the bathroom, nice dishes (no plastic) and the most important thing, the A/C was super cold. The pool is large with ample seating & umbrellas. They have both basketball and volleyball ball courts. The deck to the beach is an easy walk and is lit at night. Overall a nice stay for a short getaway.

    Great place to stay for a couple of days or even a week or so. Very clean and well maintained. Easy check in and out. The beach is just a short walk away. Two pools, grills, tennis and basketball courts. It is nice and quiet but close enough to all the stores and restaurants. Everyone is respectful. Just cant say enough, you need to check it out for yourself.

    Loved it! The rooms were nice and spacious. Great value for the price. A short walk to the beach and the pool is awesome! The outdoor area is very nice and well kept with lots of chill spots and BBQ pits (grills, and smokers). Will def come back!

    Island Retreat was a great little place to stay for our 3 day beach vacation. Our corner unit was right next to the boardwalk to the beach. Super convenient as we didnt really want to get a car permit to park on the beach. The condo was nicely appointed. The rug in the living area definitely needs to be changed out. It was stained with black marks everywhere which I assume is beach tar. There were also big chunks of beach tar stuck to the kitchen floor adjacent to the rug (which I assume is where the black marks on the rug come from.) Overall it was a nice place to stay it just needs a little cleaning TLC.

    Yes!!!!! Great condos, the only bad thing is that the pools do not have bathrooms. You have to go all the way back to your rented condo to use the bathroom. They definitely need to change that. Other than that, it was a good place to stay.

    This is an older property but well maintained. We stayed in unit 26 and the pictures did not give this place enough credit for the size. Its great. The location was perfect and using the boardwalk to get to the ocean was easier than I thought. Staffed security was kind and helpful. Maintenance was prompt as we had a small problem with the dishwasher leaking. We only went to 1 pool and it was huge! Great depth, too. The property has a shower outside to rinse off after a day at the ocean. I would stay there again.

    The condo is so beautifully decorated. I went on a mother and daughters weekend. Big swimming pool, grill and table right outside back door, very spacious patio. Boardwalk to the beach. Great location close to the shops and restaurants. First time here and definitely not our last. We were in unit #47. Only thing we could not figure out was the TV Only certain channels worked. My daughter called the management company and no one ever called back.

    My family stayed here over the weekend, had a great time. The property is a close walk to the beach and the pool was very clean. The condo we stayed at was so comfortable & decorated like a cute beach cottage #46. The kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with everything you needed. My family & I will definitely be back! Awesome trip!!🌴

    This place was the bomb, I enjoyed my stay. I was right across the swimming pool and on the back I was right by the walkway to the beach. The room was cozy with everything you need for your stay. I like how they have showers everywhere in the retreat. Also you are just 10 min from stores restaurant gas stations and gift stores. Will be coming back for another vacation!!!!!

    Great experience for the family! I have 2 toddlers and the area was safe and exciting for them. Plenty of activities and relaxation to be had! Wouldve gave 5 stars across the board but there wasnt very much shade for how hot these Texas summers get

    The condo was good except for an issue that was handled promptly and beautifully. Like other reviews, we could see the ocean from our balcony. Not sure if all units are this way. Easy access to the boardwalk which you can carry a wagon to carry your chairs. Beautiful beach. Lovely staff. Will stay again next time we visit.

    Four women (70+) decided to take a trip to relax, grieve, laugh and play bridge. We never got around to the bridge. Nice place to stay, within walking distance to the beach, and the ocean put me to sleep. I cant wait to go back.

    Modern, clean, well managed vacation spot. Beaches were amazing, if a bit crowded, but so much fun. The pool, basketball, volleyball, and cooking area are all nice additions and wonderful after a long day at the beach. We will be back.

    My Family and came here for a weekend getaway & it was awesome! We had a 2 Bedroom Condo. The Master had its own restroom and there was another one in the Hallway. The other room had queen Bed and a Bunk Bed. The Rooms were comfortable and spacious. We were walking distance from the beach ⛱ and right by the pool. There was also a Picknick area with 4 Tables an 4 community man sized BBQ Pits.. I give the Island Retreat a 10!

    Our condo (118) had an extremely well furnished kitchen with everything you’d need to cook various meals. Comfy beds, clean and comfy living area and nice bathrooms (2/2). The AC in the master bedroom had issues but was quickly fixed, temporarily, with promise to completely fix once we checked out.We’ve stayed at IR numerous times and is my Sisters favorite place to stay in Port A.My only complaint is the dishwasher wasn’t working and lots of outsiders using both pools! One security guard made us show wrist bands only one of three days we were there. Please please, at least during the summer, have regular pool patrols!

    Cheap for winter and right off the beach. We rented a condo for a weekend in January and it was perfect. We had a beautiful balcony and it was a short walk to the beach. They have a bridge over the dunes to make it extra easy. We brought our 1 and 2 year olds and they enjoyed it. Having a separate bedroom and living room was so worth it with kids.

    Air BNB. Price was reasonable for the late 60s construction. 5-10min walk to beach depending on age/speed. Pools and courts are well maintained. Rinse off area located on walkway to beach is convenient. 5min from most restaurants.

    For the number of people we had this was the cheapest in the area. First time here and we stayed the weekend. The unit we rented was privately owned. The unit itself was immaculate. Everything was provided and had plenty of space for our people. Staff was pleasant. There is a security guard for the complex at the entrance making sure the cars have a pass and whatnot. Beach access was super convenient. There is a playground and plenty of outdoor grills from what I saw.Overall, would stay here again!

    The staff was so AWESOME!! Texted me the room combination, so went straight to COOL room and unloaded. Cant imagine an easier check-in!! A/C was excellent, room was immaculate, was 20 yards from beach access off my back porch. I will recommend Island Retreat to EVERY friend and cant WAIT for my next trip down here to stay with them!

    Great resort/property for family and kids. 2-5 min walk to the beach, Lots of amenities and facilities on the property itself: has 2 x large pools on the property, basketball court, tennis court etc. Excellent location.

    This location is on the beach which is not easy to get these days in Port Aransas. The buildings are dated but individual units have been updated. We stayed in unit 154 which is ground level and has an extremely limited view of the beach. The dunes cover 98% of the view. We stayed in late April so it was extremely quiet. If a beach view is important make sure to get a 2nd or 3rd floor unit.

    Unit 37 is where we stayed. This was our first time staying in a condo like this. We were not sure what to expect. We love Port A and loved our stay just as much. This unit had everything you needed. Utensils, dishes, pots & pans. The fridge was nice & cold along with the unit that we left set at 74 the whole time. The ceiling fans were a bonus at night. This unit also had the perfect patio setting with 2 large chairs & 3 normal sized ones. The pool was steps away as was the grill, sitting area and basketball court. The laundry room was directly across from the unit & each load costed us $4 for a wash and dry. In the evening the patio is shaded by the building so you can relax after being in the sun all day. Just be careful with stickers! They are all over the grass with the short walk and left 3/6 of us with splinters we had to pick out. The boardwalk to the beach was a nice walk and not as long as you think. It is clean and the grass nicely cut. There is a shower and a hose to rinse off all the sand in your way back. It was perfect for lugging our wagon. The check in process was effortless and contactless. They sent you everything you needed by email. It was keyless entry so that was a plus! There were guards at the front on your way in set up with a table to tell you what to do and where to go and we saw them walking around at night which made you feel safe. We were able to safely keep our outside belongings on the patio without any worries. Last the pool was very inviting. The water was warm and pool was very big! It ranges from 3 ft to 7ft and was never overly crowded. The pictures for this place do not do it justice. Yes it is an older complex and some things dated but it did NOT take away from our trip. It makes you want to come back. This is by far the perfect place for a family with kids of all ages! When we return we will request this specific unit.

    The condo is great for a three day vacation! Its close to the beach and even has WiFi! However, the bathroom door (at least for me) sticks and the shower isnt great. But those are minor nit picks and arent a deal breaker. Overall great experience!

    2nd floor beach view condo was awesome! Love the pools, tennis courts, and basketball courts. The only issue we had was they never gave us enough large towels for the adults even after we asked for extra. 4 of the last 5 summers we have stayed there and will continue to come. Our room was 224.

    Beautiful house, perfect for multiple family vacation, very spacious, beautiful kitchen with great appliances, perfect dinning seating for a large family, tvs in every room, close to the pool, quick walk to the beach, great price for families to stay together but could use hangers in the closets and extra storage for clothing upstairs.     The rooms are nice. The pools are clean. The beach is close. There isnt very much vehicle traffic in the parking lot near the condo. Altogether, its a pretty ideal place to stay for a vacation.

    We visited Port A for a family reunion. We have been coming to island retreat for 50 years. The rooms have been updated and are very nice. AC works great. Two pools to swim in and a short walk to the beach.

    Rooms were clean. Lots of room, and the beds were comfortable. We were on the second floor. And had a great view of the ocean from our balcony. Kids loved the room and the view. Of course the higher you go, better the view, as the dunes block 1st floor. We are going back every time we go to Port Aransas.

    Great location, being just off the beach. The site that we stayed in we looked like it had been recently renovated. Our limited interactions with the staff were nice. Our only complaint is that the AC unit did a poor job of cooling evenly.

    Stayed in room 2 right next to the office. Great room clean and well kept up. Cell service is terrible here especially if you have t-mobile and the WiFi is either so over used that its slow or its just slow. So dont plan on brining a laptop or trying to upload photos via phone. It will take hrs. Other than that everything was great stayed a week. Very close beach access. Nice pool! Not too overly crowded. Kids had a blast and very close to everything you want to do on the island. Will definitely stay again. Staff was fine didnt have any attitudes from any of them.

    I stay here every year in the fall. I love this place. We usually get a condo on the beach. Second floor units have a view of the beach from the balcony. Its an easy walk on the boardwalk from the condo to the beach. Unfortunately, they are currently under construction because Hurricane Harvey hit them pretty hard. But some units further away from the beach are open now and both pools are open.

    This is the place to stay if your in Port A, its right by the beach and close to pretty much everything.There was some construction going on which we did not mind and it did not effect anything we did while we were there.The pools are so accessible and clean. Staff is also very friendly!

    We rented a privately owned unit which had been recently updated. The complex overall, while a bit dated, is well situated with walking access to the beach, two good pools, and a playground. The staff is friendly, and its just close enough to town without being in the middle of the city. Would recommend visiting to others.

    Recovering from the recent hurricanes, the Island retreat has been a pleasure over the thanksgiving holiday! Me and my family attend here every year and while not many others were there and you could see the rebuilding on the island, the staff was still helpful and happy.     Beautiful complex. My wife and I visited a friend while attending the Sand Fest. Easy access to the beach. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

    Great place to stay with your family on vacation. Very quiet and close to the beach.Kitchen are fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes and silverware. Just bring your food and spices.

    I could definitely live here. Beautiful tennis courts and pools. Very well mantained yards and garden areas. Everything is within walking distance....the beach, stores, restaurants, shopping. Awesome place to visit and a wonderful place to live.

    I love Island Retreat. We have been coming here for 5+ years for family vacation in the summer and have no issues. The staff is friendly, the rooms are nice, and the beach is a short walk away.

    There are 2 sections to Island Retreat. I have only stayed in condos in the original section (aka IR 1). While most of the condos have the same basic layout the furnishings vary depending the personal tast of the owners. There is walkable access to the beach and a 2 pools (one for each section). The cleaning staff comes daild for towels and there is a security guard that makes sure only people staying there are parking there (at least on the big, holiday weekends).

    I stayed in unit 149....Best Vacation Ever!!...Its a 3-5 minute walk from the beach and the room was so accommodating, the bathrooms were so clean the pools are so close to the room facility staff is amazingly nice from beginning of stay to end of stay and the best part is that u dont have to pay off the room until u enter the lobby....In a matter of fact ill be staying in unit 57 this weekend....overall very nice place to stay this will be our annual trip destination

    Needs some updates on bathroom. Shower head super low, husband had to bends his knees to get under the water. No dresser or closet for clothes had to lay them all out on the second bed. Not sure 4 people would have been comfortable for any length of time in the room.
