Actual rating is a 3.5.This will be similar to another review from the past year.PROS:The location is great. I love Dawson and Galindo and the neighborhood is top notch. There are plenty of coffee/food/bars in walking distance, and multiple grocery options that are very close.I love that it’s a smaller complex and that there is ample off street parking, gated or otherwise. It is also in a very dog friendly neighborhood. Plenty of side walk and streets that aren’t too busy. The maintenance team is amazing, can’t be repeated enough. Philip and Chris are responsive and thorough, and their explanations help deescalate emergency calls. Philip and Chris fix problems quickly and their customer service is premier.I have similar criticisms like the other reviews, though.CONS:The older buildings require an air purifier, there can be a mildewy smell. The ventilation can be an issue, there is no fan in the bathroom. I already owned a dehumidifier and that helps, and I turn my AC on to the fan setting to help clear out steam. If you require direct sunlight make sure you pick your apt carefully. It’s a small complaint of the glass half full variety, your AC won’t run all day during the summer because of the shade. My energy bills have never been over $100 and are generally under $70 while my apartment stays around 72 degrees… but it also feels cave like at times 🤷As mentioned in other reviews, communications with the main office can be difficult and strained if you don’t speak with Khia. There was a debacle with a water line and the city. It would have felt less disastrous if there had been more timely updates. I went without running water for days, until Chris superman’d it. However, his job would have been easier had there been an email blast from the main office regarding the new issues with calcium buildups in water lines/faucets that were preventing water flow. There were multiple units dealing with the same problem and it was a relatively easy fix… but no one knew one way or the other. It was easier to get an update from Austin’s water department than the office. If Khia is out of office I don’t count on a call back or a response by email. Khia is responsive and friendly, but that doesn’t extend throughout the office. I have encountered some very questionable tones from people there that left me confused for a number of reasons.TLDR; in a great location in a very fun neighborhood, especially if you own a dog that likes walking.Plenty of coffee, food, and bars in walking distance, only a short drive to LeRoy and Lewis BBQ.Awesome new HEB very close by, plus Randall’s, Poco Loco Supermercado, Target, and a WalMart within a mile and a half. The maintenance crew is great. The parking is good. The price is right, that also leads to some cons. The apts are old, even though they are updated. There are smells, like a lot of older places. If you don’t get a hold of Khia, the tone from the office can feel aggressive, hostile, or dismissive. The maintenance crew are routinely above and beyond, but understand there will be problems that will require them. Were it not for Philip and Chris this review probably would have been more severe. Give them raises.

I have lived here for almost two years now and have really enjoyed it! My apartment is one of the smaller ones but it’s great for one person and I love my patio. I like the gated parking, how nice and quick maintenance is, and the location is great. It’s in a good area and people are friendly, plus there is recycling. The laundry room can have machines out of order at times which can be inconvenient for multiple people to use the shared facilities. Over the course of living here, I submitted one complaint to management and received a response saying if I had a problem I should just break the lease. I believe that may have been handled better but want to give management the benefit of the doubt because otherwise communication has been pleasant. I’ll be sad to leave.

Honestly, I’ve really enjoyed living here. Yeah it’s a little out dated on the outside, and the in unit washer/dryer is confusing to use, but other than that this place has been wonderful. The location is awesome. Like really really awesome. Right next to Cosmic which is probably the best chill bar/food/coffee spot in Austin, and Crux climbing gym. There’s a cool cigar shop up the street for guys to go hang out and smoke and watch sports, and you’re close enough to 290 to avoid all the neighborhood traffic if you have to get to work that way. All of the tenants in the apartment (currently) are great people and most of them have really sweet pets! My cat loves it here and frankly I’m going to be sad when we move because she’s made a lot of friends roaming around. The units themselves are renovated nicely. Although not extremely spacious, they can be made to feel very homey. Management is not over-bearing and maintenance is on site and available. I’ve had no more problems with crime than anyone I know in Austin (in fact I’ve had less than most people I know). The only incident was someone ruffled through my car when I left it unlocked one night (but that’s better than my car being broken into three times in the nicer neighborhoods of Houston). If you live in one of the units closest to alpine circle, you have a nice view of a line of trees and sky that feels very natural and open, and I personally like the access to outside as opposed to being in a large hotel-like complex. Walks around the area are wonderful because of the nice neighborhoods nearby and being right on south congress.I’d recommend this place to most young people on a bit of a budget who want to be in a great spot in the heart of Austin.

As a new renter I was really nervous about finding the right place with the right community and I definitely have found it at Soco At Alpine. The Leasing Team is super helpful, responsive and kind. The Maintenance Team is literally 10/10. Phillip, The Lead, is a very friendly and efficient worker. He always explains what’s going on, follows up and is just genuine about what he’s doing. My neighbors are welcoming, say hello and chat a bit. I’m very happy and content with my lil home!
