I like living here. The apartment is newer, spacious; parking could be scare sometimes, but often not an issue. We are always on alert because of robbery and car theft notices (my husband car almost got broken into if he had not had an alarm system), but this is expected in and around med center. The staff in the office are courteous, friendly. Things only got bad since they implemented the new parking system. We felt unsafe parking too far from our place and walking at night. The way the management communicated about the parking situation could be frustrating. They only gave people less than 2 day notice when they did the repainting of the stripes and began towing cars. I felt that management could have done more than keep saying its your individual responsibility to watch out for yourself. They could have hired real policemen to patrol and beef up security when there were higher crime incidents than usual. Overall, I like the amenities and the resident neighbors. Other things could be slightly improved. -

Office staff was good and, fair to me any time I need a work order done the maintenance staff was always good about Keeping my unit together. The manager was one of the best I have had in a long time she was down to earth and about her business love her vibe 💕 the front offices staff always had a customer service etiquette and I enjoyed being a part of the Catalina village Family I Am going to miss you guys 2019-2023 -

Me and my wife came for a quick tour and were both impressed of how nice and friendly the manager is. We are hopeful to return closer to our move in date, we liked the energy and the community! -

Just moved out from a year long lease here, not because of the apartment though. Overall, its a rough neighborhood, which they cant do anything about but inside the complex is nice and safe.Inside is spacious and nice, no bugs, maintenance staff is THE BEST.Management: Good luck finding them actually there, they close up the office at the most random times and were usually around an hour late of their posted opening. The ladies there are nice, but they have their moments. Temps at the front desk for a couple of months with absolutely no customer service skills. They let you pay your rent with a card (go reward points!) and will hold your packages in the office.Lots of people do park on the street, it sometimes was hard to get out of the complex and cars did get broken into (we never had guests over for this reason). I was in a two bedroom and we got two parking passes for inside the gate, if you are planning on living with more people then there are bedrooms, may not be the best place due to parking. Actually one of the main reasons my roommate and I moved out.Overall, nice bang for your buck inside and minor things with parking and management outside. -

Ive only been here for four months so far. Its not bad at all. My neighbors are quiet. The grounds are very clean. My A/C went out and I walked into the office and they said they would take care of it. I got home from work and my place was nice a cool. Its not perfect. This is my first time living in an apartment in over thirty years. So far its great. The parking for guess sucks. But, I knew that when I moved in. Parking is the only reason I cant give the place a 5. That and people smoking on the stairs. NOT COOL! -

I security and its gotten much better. I like my apartmentlove My apartment. Spacious. Washer and dryer included. Quiet neighbors. Maintenance is very efficient. Office staff friendly and professional. Only thing I could complain about is there is no pool or gym. There was a lot of break ins of cars outside the gate at firs. And the club for the college kids can be a bit rowdy and rambunctious but they hired -

I dont understand why this place received very low rates. We just renewed our contract again. Its been great so far: the complex is clean, the gates always work; the office ladies might not give you the biggest smile or talk to you a lot but they get their jobs done and I like that: they take work orders and fix things within a reasonable amount of time, they keep the delivered packages for you if you request, they collect the rent, and they dont try to scam you like a few other apartment offices. And the maintenance guys are very nice as well. I just feel bad for this apartment complex that they didnt get a higher review. -

I have lived here since 2015. It was my first place to live in Houston. I started off in a one bedroom and moved up to a two bedroom. Chauntel has been amazing. Shes always been there when something needed to be fixed, or if I had questions, concerns, etc. She works so hard to make sure that everything is as it should be.I renew my lease every year because of her hard work. She worked with us when we had our baby and completely forgotten to pay rent for that month. She worked with us when we needed to upsize. She has done so much to make us comfortable. She knows us and remembers our names, shes the best. Thats what makes these apartments feel like home.**The surrounding area is what it is, the grounds are usually clean, the appliances are in good working order (and when our oven went out, it was replaced that same day), groundskeepers are friendly. Very convenient place to live, close to Med Center, UH, downtown, etc** -

UPDATE after resigning our lease for a second time:My husband and I moved from Austin to Houston two years ago, and we will be going on our third year living at Catalina Apartments. When we moved we used various apartment locators, and the usual rental websites to find a place that would be close to University of Houston, and close to my husband’s job, which is in the galleria area. We stumbled on this place by chance, and we have been happy ever since. My husband is in the construction industry by way of HVAC and property management, which means that he knows how apartment complexes work and how they sometimes under preform. Here was our check list, but the pet policies have changed, but if you were leased to prior the weight restriction you are fine (25 lb limit).1. Near UH and Galleria area2. Accepted our 50 lb black lab.3. Gated community. - They have worked tirelessly to make sure that all safety concerns have been addressed, by putting up cameras at every entrance and exit. They have also installed motion spot lots, and have lighting on throughout the complex. They also have a security detail on every night. They are great guys.4. At least 800 sqft 1/1 apartment – Their 1/1’s are 1003 sqft, and come with a full size washer and dryer. They have a great open layout, and many other updates. They met all of our criteria. We decided to re-sign our lease for the first time, because the staff here work how hard to maintain the property, how quickly their maintenance staff resolved our maintenance issues, and for their continued improvement of security for the property.Upon staying here for another year, and continuing to see positive improvements we decided to re-sign our lease for an additional year. We love it here. Yes, we live in the inner city, and you have the typical issues that surround that, but our apartment complex has worked hard to mitigate those concerns. It Is a great location, because you are centrally located. You are close to downtown, medical center, University of Houston, etc. You have spacious floor plans, with all the updates. The entire staff from the ladies in the office to the maintenance team work long hours taking care of the property. Here are the trade-offs:1. Parking – You have one spot per apartment. Even if you live in a 2 bedroom. Each apartment has only 1 designated spot. If you live in a 2-bedroom, or if you live in 1/1… if there are more than 2 people on the lease then the second person can get a “reserved” permit, which allows them to park in the reserved spots which are “first come first serve” basis. While this can be a hassle, it is completely do-able. When your guests come they must park out on the street, because there is no guest parking inside the gates (if there is guest parking it is usually taken up by someone’s car that NEVER moves). Still not bad, and it keeps the parking lot available to residents. Prior to this new parking situation, you would be unable to find parking past 7PM at all inside the gates. So even though this can be an inconvenience, it is necessary to combat the number of people that were parking that were not on the lease, which was preventing parking for tenants.2. No gym or pool. Not a big deal, because there is a great 3.5-mile route into the neighborhood behind the apartments, and along the bayou. We highly recommend this place! Great neighbors, quiet community, amazing staff, animal friendly, open floor plans with all the updates, and it is perfect for us. -

Wonderful apartment complex. The management staff are friendly and helpful. Maintenance fixed apartment issues in a timely manner. Onsite police officers and contracted Security company. I honestly dont understand why these apartments have recieved negative reviews. My experience there was wonderful and they deserve a 5 star rating. -

Lived here for a year, cant really complain. Comes w/ a washer and dryer...appliances worked...neighbors not so bad. Overall a good experiance in a very huge appartment at an affordable cost. Only con is there is no pool, workout room, ect. Towing was enfored soooo... have your permit on your car at all times, or make sure your company gets there early enough to park in visitor parking. -

I have lived here almost a year in DecemberThis place was amazing and I want anyone and everyone to know about it.....yes they are very pricey but for the 1200 sq ft space hard wood floors bathroom and kitten and laundry. BRAND NEW carpet when I first got here and I dont allow shoes on my rug or drinks no where but kitchen so the next Tendents will be satisfied, quiet neighbors....lounge down the block and food places everywhere police station across the street and ambulances come almost immediately....the office stff was a bit intimidating at first but they are beautiful amazing ladies that go above and beyond to make.sure things are ran smoothly...chantel was a blessing and ms tiffany blows customer satisfaction out the water. Unfortunately I cant afford another year here but I loved my experience. -

When I first moved at catalina village Apts, there was a misunderstanding between me and a staff member about my 2nd Amendment rights. This is something i take too heart, just like all my freedoms granted to me and all Americans. By God not mankind. The staff member apologize to me. I live here for a few years. I regret that i have too move, due to my health, and older age. needing to be closer to my love ones. Its been wonderful living here. Maintenance has been great. All my love too all staff and maintenance. ❤✌God bless all.🇺🇸🗽 -
