    This is a very belated but very much a 5 star glowing review for J & L Automotive! Car broke down on summer road trip to Pensacola Beach. Tow service took car to J & L on a Saturday while our road trip continued thanks to Uber and a rent car. I received a call on Monday from J & L. Between texts and calls, and a very desperate road tripping mom , my car was ready three days later! Yep! Unbelievable timing as we were scheduled to drop off rent car at Shreveport Airport on Thursday! But that’s not all! After finding out we would Uber to Marshall after dropping off rent car the owner of J & L offered to bring my car to me at the airport! After work hours! Thirty miles away! Requiring his wife to follow. Wow! If that’s not 5 star customer service I don’t know what is! As a mom traveling with a friend, her teen, my son with disabilities, and his service dog, AND all of our luggage…I could not have been more thankful for the above and beyond service! Also, I could’ve so easily been taken advantage of on cost of parts/repair…I wasn’t. The cost was right in line with the average. Thank you J & L for being fair and reliable!

    I was passing through Marshall on a Friday afternoon, and my upper radiator hose blew out a few miles north of town. I called James at J&L, and he said that if I could get to him, he would fit me in that same afternoon. Well, he kept his word and got me on my way again. He had a great crew on-site. Stephen was the mechanic who worked on my pickup, and he was professional and informative. Top-notch mechanic shop.

    Simply, THE BEST! They treat you like family and James will not let a vehicle leave his shop until it is in perfect working order. I have an old Nissan Quest which has had its issues and probably should be put out of its misery but James knows how much I love my vehicle and makes sure to keep it working. I cannot say enough about him and his employees. I highly recommend taking your vehicle to J&L Automotive for any type of service you may need. They are great at what they do and they do not overcharge you. In fact, they go way and beyond for what they charge.

    My husband and I were passing through on our way from Atlanta to Austin. We awoke from a quick break to discover our car had lost all its oil and made a mess at the hotel parking lot, it was 9:30 am and we were due in Austin for an appointment at 4:00 pm. In a little panic we asked around the hotel if they knew of a shop nearby that might be able to help, they suggested J & L Automotive. I called and was immediately put through to the owner James. After explaining situation, he said he could come get car and diagnose, on top of that he said he would clean up the oil from the hotel lot. We secured a rental car and we were off to Austin. Yes, that means we left our car in a place we didn‘t know, with a mechanic we didn’t know! Yes it could have been the ultimate nightmare, Instead, it was a dream come true. J&L and James kept in touch letting us know the problem and the path to getting it repaired, and then handled everything with absolute professionalism finishing and having it ready for us as we passed through 3 days later on our way back home. The whole experience, including the cost just the best it could be! I would say to anyone that lives in or around Marshall Texas, if this is how J&L treats a stuck and panicked strangers, imagine how they treat their neighbors? Truly thank you James and J&L for your honesty and excellent work!!!

    I was given a 99 Dodge Durango when my Dad passed away over 4 years ago. I have been slowly putting parts on it to keep it going when the factory security alarm started going off. No one was able to get the alarm to go off but J & L automotive. Some businesses told me my vehicle was to old to work on, but James had no problem helping me out.     Amazing service! James and his staff were the best. I was traveling from Dallas to Mississippi and my car acceleration dropped 15 miles from Marshall. A local National Brand shop referred me to J&L Automotive for my BMW. They were extremely busy when I arrived but he still took time to do a diagnostic and repair my car with an hour! WAIT...he even followed up with a text message 2 days later to see if the work on my BMW went well. Highly Recommend...best decision ever. Wish I lived closer for any future repairs.

    I was looking for someone reliable to service my vehicle. My sister has used J&L Automotive and she suggested I give them a chance to service my vehicle so I did. They kept my vehicle for the day and did a complete check-up on everything. They did tune up replaced the drive belt and checked all fluids, filters and coolant and added what was necessary. The owner, James was very pleasant and called me with estimates before doing any of the work. Prices were good and everyone there was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely use them again for service on my vehicle. I had previously read an article in Marshall News Messenger about J&L Automotive and they definitely lived up to the write up. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

    Out of town and broke down at night. Service called tow truck and he recommended this place. I’m so happy he did! 100% pleased. It was a fuel pump and the price and work was excellent. The tow truck left it there overnight so they didn’t actually get it til the next morning. The day after that it was done and ready to be picked up. I couldn’t believe the speed of getting this done when I picked the vehicle up and it’s a pretty busy place. No complaints at all! Wish they were closer to my home in Louisiana.P.S. they gave a senior or military discount which was also a big plus!

    James did a wonderful job on my Lexus Es 350. I was driving back from Shreveport Texas and my car suddenly stopped working. I am from the Dallas area and did not know any mechanic around. I was towed to the nearest automotive shop but since it was Saturday no one was there. I called a number that he had available and he picked up promptly and told me not to worry and said where I can leave my car and he would look at it on Monday. He returned my calls and gave me the bad news that I needed a new engine. I told him I am not sure about replacing it but he gave me assurances and after reading all the reviews about his business I felt much more comfortable about it. He worked with me on pricing and also got me the best warranty possible. He kept me up to date on things and has been over a month and he has been checking in with me via text to make sure nothing is wrong. I really appreciate that and how much he cares about his work. Though I live over 2 hours away, I would recommend J&L automotive to anyone who needs an expert car service and friendly atmosphere!

    Our car was having starting problems after filling up with gas. They were straight up and honest with me over the phone as to when they would be able to get to it. We dropped it off when they said to and they had it fixed the same day. When I dropped it off the mechanic talked to me and almost knew immediately what he thought the problem was. They even offered me a ride although I didnt need one. Very friendly, honest, and knowledgeable staff. Price was very reasonable too. Best garage Ive ever used and Ive tried places all over Shreveport/Bossier. Will definitely use them for any future car issues.

    Well, I have used them since I moved here from Fort Worth. James hires great people uses only the highest quality parts and tries to keep customer costs down. He is very honest when assessing a problem.The individuals he hire are true mechanics and not just part changers. Consequently, On all 4 of our family vehicles never once in 6 years have I ever had to return a vehicle for the same problem. They are very thorough and precise.Even though I moved from Marshall to Henderson, I still take my vehicles to James. Over Christmas I dropped my daughters car off and he took great care of it. She can drive confidently to DC knowing her car will last a long long time.

    My niece and her 8 yr old came to visit from Colorado. Her Jeep began overheating shortly before arriving. I called James at J and L first thing Monday morning. He was swamped, but told us to bring it in. Replaced the thermostat on short notice for her return drive home.     Not only do they do good work, they really care for their customers. When my turbo went out in my car while I was passing through on vacation, they went above and beyond to help me get to locations where I could arrange for alternate transportation. The price was very reasonable for the repair. I don’t live in Marshall, but if I did I would use them for all my automotive repair needs.

    My car broke down on the way up from Houston to St. Louis and I was a little nervous not knowing anyone in Marshall, TX. I was helped immensely by locals that highly recommended J&L.     James and his wife are the most genuine people youll ever meet. I had a truck go down in Marshall last week. J&L were highly recommended by Google, so I gave them a shot. It was near closing time, and wouldve been easy to turn me away, but James went to work. He arrived on scene, arranged a wrecker, and stayed with my driver until I arrived. He even offered to help with our load, but we were able to get it resolved. In todays world, it truly is a blessing to meet good folks like James and his wife. Not only that, it was highly apparent that James possesses all the attributes associated with a strong servant leader.     I have used this place for a few years. They always do a great job and get you out in a great time. I had a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee they use to work on and now a 2011. Love, love love this place. I live an hour away now and drove a whole hour just to use them. They take great care of you and give you very reasonable prices.     J&L has been fixing my car since the first time my very first car had problems. I have recieved the best quality care from day one. James is honest and fair priced. He backs his service by a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty.     We have taken in all of our vehicles at some point in time to J&L. They are honest and are quick to take care of you, despite being consistently busy.     My work crew burned out a clutch (but they didnt know it at the time) in a 1-ton truck while loading a boat on the Sabine River. They couldnt get the truck into gear. Had to abandon the truck at the boat ramp. I called J&L Automotive. They drove to the boat ramp later that night. Able to get it into gear and drive back to the shop. Had it running in a few days. Opened his shop on Sunday for us to pick up. Excellent work and service. Great price for a clutch job. Went above and beyond for folks from out of town. Highly recommend to others.

    Had an idler pulley seize up on me a few miles from this repair shop which , of course, shredded the serpentine belt. Another mechanic shop would probably of taken advantage of my situation being so far from home and stuck. James Lester is the real deal. My truck was quickly diagnosed, parts sent for, and was back on the road in under an hour.They fixed exactly what was wrong and charged me the right amount of labor. Total bill... less than $150. Everyone at the repair shop was professional, kind and courteous. I wish I lived closer. J&L Automotive would be my go-to for anything auto related. If you are in the neighborhood or live near there you will not be able to find a more trustworthy, professional business.

    There are no words to describe how this business helped me out in a tight spot. My transmission decided to go out in my vehicle coming home from a trip from out of town. It was just me and two kids and our little dog and we were an hour from home late on a Sunday afternoon. With my husband working in Houston I was wondering how we were going to get home when James said he would send somebody to pick us up! Not knowing us from Adam, he made sure we made it safely home.     Ive been several times to this establishment. Years ago, I took my truck to him for a transmission rebuild. Excellent job then. Most recently, took my car in to get new brake pads put on my back tires. Excellent pricing and took less time than I was quoted. Ive lived in Fort Worth for 3+ years, I dont trust anybody out that way with my car, I dont mind the drive back to East Tx to get things done at J & L Automotive.

    Great people, understood my money predicament and still helped out with everything I asked for, gave me a great price and had it foxed in a timely manner. The owner knew I was taking my car to Florida for a year after the work was done and made sure it was road ready. What set it over the top was the fact that a month in or so(maybe a little less/ more) the owner texted me and checked on me and the car, and asked if I was having any issues. Not many will even try to contact you after they have your money so the fact that he checked in on my car was astonishing. 10/10 recommended this place to get your car foxed up! Thanks again guys! Yall did awesome! And not to mention, I pulled up on a Harley-Davidson to get my car and was havibg some issues and the mechanic there let me borrow some tools to get it foxed up enough to get home!     I took my 1987 Jeep Cherokee to J&L Automotive to have my power steering replaced. I didn’t have to wait long to get it repaired. When they took the defective pump off, they also replaced a pressure hose and tightened the steering box to take the slack out. I was very pleased with the work they did and my Jeep handled better than ever. The price was very fair and I will most certainly use J&L again for future automotive repairs for all my vehicles.     I have a 2013 Dodge Ram 3500. I had to take my truck to the Marshall Dodge Dealership for 2 safety recalls and a check engine light. When all was said and done, the dealership wanted to charge me almost $9,000 to replace the turbo and a laundry list of other items. They also informed me this was just the start because once the turbo was replaced they would check the rest of the vehicle out and it could cost up to $6,000 more depending on what they found. I searched the internet for automotive repair in Marshall, TX and discovered J & L Automotive with great reviews. J & L was able to replace the turbo, complete all of the required system cleanings, change the oil, change the fuel filters and service the transmission for just over $4,000. J & L lived up to their reviews and they have become my new auto repair shop. J & L is very friendly, trustworthy and will walk you through your auto repair step by step. They even called me three days after the repair just to check on how the vehicle was doing. GREAT PEOPLE and SERVICE.

    Above and beyond. My sons car broke down on the way to New Orleans from Dallas on a Sunday afternoon. The alternator belt broke on the highway, and he was stranded. We called for a tow and took his car to J&L. I called J&L on the off chance someone would be there on a Sunday. No one was of course, but I left a message, and James called me back immediately offering to pick my son up in case he wasnt in a safe location. James repaired the car and had my son back on his way to New Orleans on Tuesday morning. I cannot recommend J&L and James enough. Every part of the repair was explained and done in a timely manner.
