They hosted us for a reunion. The staff, food and activities were awesome! The cabins are far enough away from each other so you dont hear others. Tons of wildlife to see. They should add TVs. I now we arent there to watch Tv on vacation, I just like to unwind even after relaxing all day. Not sure what the lower reviews are for on here from other people. Its a get away cabin resort with RV spots as well.

My family and I had a great time at the Artesian Springs Resort this weekend. We visited, played games, enjoyed one anothers company by the fire, and hiked around the park. The grandkids didnt want to leave, and I think the rest of us would have stayed if it werent for work. Were all looking forward to going again.

What a beautiful and relaxing place to visit! The Cabin - Alligator Alley, I stayed in was beautiful with wonderful wood floors, walls, decor porch and more. Fully equipped in the kitchen etc to give you all the comforts of home. Beds were very comfortable. I really enjoyed waking up to such beautiful scenery each morning to relax and walk about with a cup of coffee. The grounds are well kept and easy to get around. The pool area is really nice for relaxing around the pool or enjoying the water. I was part of a group with Semper Fi and Americas Fund. We had meals ready for us at the restaurant which was really some wonderful food and beautiful scenery around the facility. The hospitality house was very nice and provided a great place for everyone to get together. I would absolutely come back here for a longer vacation. I cant leave out the people. A great staff that makes sure your stay is wonderful.

2nd time here but different cabin but was still a wonderful get away with some peace and quiet. I believe us and another cabin was the only one rented during the week. We loved it. Friendly staff in the office as well as housekeeping checked on us the 2nd day to see if there was anything we needed. We did not leave the park. Just chilled outdoors in the swing and watched the alligators watch us. Hoping to come back next year.

Went 9/8/23 for a reunion. We were blown away at the care the staff takes to make everything perfect. The food was great, the grounds are well kept. Everything functioned at it should. The cabins were impeccable. Bike trails are clean of debris. Pool was perfect temp. Everyone we encountered was polite professional and courteous. We felt like the king of the hill. I can not say enough. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You Wyatt & crew!-Semper Fi-

Beautiful hidden gem retreat just North of Cleveland, TX! Lots of fun for both adults and children. 2nd year in a row coming here. Stayed at the Phoenix house. 😊

  • Review 8 (2024-05-01 - Rating: 5)

The cabins were clean and comfortable, they could use some updates but over all value for money is on point. The area is spectacular and the walking trails are well maintained.

  • Review 9 (2023-11-15 - Rating: 5)

I visited as part of a large group for a week. I highly recommend this place. While the cabins feel like a rustic getaway/escape, modern conveniences are available should you desire or need them. The retreat center offers a variety of activities to engage any size group or family size.

  • Review 10 (2023-11-20 - Rating: 5)

Stayed in the Jane Long cabin 5th to the 8th.Awesome experience, beautiful scenery. The service was great. Kids had a blast. The lakes are full of life..lolGood fishing, seen lots of gators, and raccoons. Lots of birds. The gators dont bother you while canoeing. Overall I would highly recommend. This was a great experience. We will be back!

Hands down a great place for getting away for the weekend with the family or just taking a romantic weekend with the wife. Place has plenty to do and plenty to see. most cabins are right on the water and can fish right from your cabin. Also the restaurant when we went was great. Had the breakfast and Ribeyes while there for room service and was haply with both to say the least. Been a handful of times an unfortunately havent been this year but dying to get back..I recommend it to everyone I know..best part is its an hour or so drive from Beaumont and is amazing. So oad the family up and head there you wont be disappointed, I promise

Beautiful, but...We vacationed there last week with 2 other couples. We stayed at the Lake House and had a wonderful time! The property is beautiful and theres many things to do! One of the things to do listed on their website is hiking. Well, on Saturday morning, one of the couples, my husband and I went for a hike. The fellas noticed it first but a truck kept following us. It passed by us like 3 or 4 times. The assumption was that it was one of the residents checking to see where we were going. This assumption was made because out of all the guests visiting, we were the only African Americans (6). Maybe they werent used to seeing us there? I think the company could do better with attracting more diversity. The vehicle even came to the pool where we were and turned around once they saw we were there. There was even a guy that came out of his house during our hike (upon seeing us in his kitchen window), and started walking behind us for like 2 minutes then he turned around and went back home. Up until that point, I felt safe and was having a good time but that made us all feel uncomfortable. My husband and I are runners but we didnt feel comfortable going for a morning run the next day. I asked the receptionist was there security in hopes that the vehicle was a patrol vehicle but she said security only drives a golf cart and makes passes at night and for us to call them if they follow us again. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay with our friends in the beautiful Lake House!!

  • Review 13 (2019-02-04 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful and serene! The developers are doing a great job maintaining this property. All the roads and trails were well-maintained, there are some lots and homes for sale, but many residents and weekend vacationers enjoying the property. Everyone was super friendly and golf carts are the main mode of transportation around the property. Pool and swimming area was neat clean and well-maintained, the hot tub Grotto was fabulous. Didnt get to eat at the restaurant because we stayed at a friends cabin and cooked our own food, but definitely want to try that next time. Got to see Raphael the giant alligator snapping turtle, he must be a hundred and fifty years old or more! Of course the horses and ducks were fun...We had a wonderful girls weekend retreat and will definitely be back. I want to bring the family out.

  • Review 14 (2019-06-23 - Rating: 5)

We had a great, peaceful weekend away from the business of our lives. The log cabin was beautifully equipped and wonderfully secluded. The clear water, tree surrounded lake, immediately beneath our porch was so relaxing. The flower garden was beautiful. We enjoyed watching the gators and turtles. All the meals were excellent and the staff was pleasant and accommodating. Thank you for a great escape.

  • Review 15 (2020-03-30 - Rating: 5)

Went in February to see what it would be like during non peak times. Very slow, quiet, and relaxing. Felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Highly recommend adults with no kids looking for relaxation to go during off season. I however had a 5 year old with me that wanted to swim but it was too cold and wanted to play with other kids but there were none. Me and the wife loved it but my child would have had way more fun in the busy summertime. Hiking in the 60 degree temps felt great and the restaurant was always empty with plenty of tables. The chilly nights made the roasting s’mores around the fire pit and sleeping next to our fireplace in the cabin very cozy. Overall it was great and we all had a great time. I just think most kids would have even more fun in the summertime.

  • Review 16 (2021-05-10 - Rating: 5)

I dont think I could run out of positive things to say about this trip. The cabin was really pretty, the food was excellent, so much wildlife to look at, wonderful walking trails and sites to see. One of the very best experiences Ive ever had on vacation. It was beautiful and relaxing. I cant wait to go back and take my two boys.

  • Review 17 (2019-03-27 - Rating: 5)

My wife and I stayed in a one room cabin during January for our anniversary. We love everything about this place! Our cabin was very cozy with a gas fireplace in the room. There is a full kitchen. We didnt cook, but it was nice to have for making cocktails :). The cabin was clean and beds were very comfortable. It wasnt too cold for hiking so we spent a lot of time just walking and checking out the scenery. Even in the winter, this place is still beautiful.I also recommend eating at Hilltop, the restaurant on site. The seafood buffet is excellent. Make sure you try the bread pudding with jack daniels sauce. Its the best bread pudding Ive ever had.

We loved our stay at Artesian Lakes! Our cabin was perfect. From our deck we enjoyed seeing all kinds of wildlife including alligators, giant bull frogs and raccoons. We had a blast fishing at our cabin and swimming at the pool and swim lake! If you are there on a Saturday, make sure to get breakfast at the Hilltop Restaurant. It was AMAZING! The staff and guests were all friendly. It was a nice, relaxing family getaway and we cant wait to go back!

  • Review 19 (2019-02-27 - Rating: 5)

Weve been visiting Artesian lakes for years now. One of my favorite places to go to unwind and disconnect from the normal hustle and bustle of life. Its gorgeous and great for everyone young or old. The swim lake and pool are so much fun and a great way to cool down. We enjoy seeing all the nature from alligators, raccoons, tons of birds, catfish, bass and alligator snapping turtles. This place has a special place in our hearts and we will continue to come back year after year.

  • Review 20 (2023-04-12 - Rating: 5)

Our favorite weekend getaway! We love the pool and hot tub, fishing in the lake, and relaxing on the porch swing enjoying the quiet. The gators are fun to watch too.

  • Review 21 (2021-08-16 - Rating: 5)

Such a amazing place. So clean and convenient everything you need is here. We stayed in the cabin Angelina comfy beds. Excellent fishing right off the front porch. We rented a canoe for 24hrs. It was affordable I believe $30. That was a lot of fun. It was uncrowded for a August weekend. Felt like a hide away gem! Lots of neat wildlife... We saw Allegators, opossums, squirrels, armadillos, frogs, several different types of fish, deer & different types turtles. The saltwater swimming pool is very nice. The swimming lake was my favorite. The kids really enjoyed the slides & swimming with little fish. Snack bar & everything you need on location. Except worms for fishing... But they had other bait available. We will definitely be back.🐊🐟🚣‍♀️☀️

This place has improved so much, Loved our visit there this weekend. Michelle at the front desk was so nice and professional! We will definitely come back sooner then later. We stayed at the William B. Travis cabin and it was worth every penny. The pool was amazing with walking distance to the lake and cabin. Absolutely loved every minute of our stay!

  • Review 24 (2022-06-21 - Rating: 4)

I went here last year for a couples trip and we really enjoyed feeding the alligators, kayaking, walking the trail, sliding down into the lake and the swimming pool. We saw deer serval days and our view was beautiful! They have drinks and snacks in the front office for purchase.Con’s: Dusting is needed after every guest. We laid down in the bed and looked up and there were dust and really bad spiderwebs everywhere. No cellphone service but you’re not supposed to use them there unless you take a trip to the office. Horseback riding and several other things were no longer an option.

Great get away not far from Houston. If you are looking for a 5 star resort this isn’t it. It is however, cozy cabins, a great place to disconnect, a wonderful swimming pod, great pool for kids. With Covid there wasn’t much by the way of food. We cooked all of her meals on an open fire outside. Each cabin has a little kitchen that is perfect for a small family. If they are offering food that you can purchase from a local lady do it! He had her homemade lasagna and salad. Everything was fresh and wonderful. Removing one star only because there is some maintenance that could be done on the cabins and the beds weren’t for comfiest. Also every lamp in the cabin had a burnt out bulb. But we would absolutely go back!

I have been to the Retreat at Artesian Lakes many times over the years and recently spent the long Memorial Day weekend in the Reset private home with some friends. This destination is the perfect place to relax and refresh. On top of it all, it’s only a 45 minute drive away from us. I have always recommended The Retreat at Artesian Lakes in the past and will continue to do so moving forward.

  • Review 27 (2019-08-21 - Rating: 5)

We went on vacation last minute booked our cabin the night before spent the weekend with friends and family. This was the best money spent we had such a good time the service was amazing the cabins were very clean and had everything we needed a kitchen and they provided dishes and linens. The horse and carriage ride to the breakfast buffet was amazing our first time for that!! We had so mich fun we didnt get to do all the activities horse back riding canoeing golf or trails. But we enjoyed the pool fishing the slide the jacuzzi. We are already trying to make time to plan another weekend trip when my husband comes back in town from work. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a nice weekend with family its so peaceful and the gators and raccoons at our cabins were really photogenic we got some good memories with them!!! I still cant believe how close I was to them and they dont attack!! Definitely cant wait to come back.

  • Review 28 (2018-08-08 - Rating: 4)

My family had a great time at this low-frills, East Texas resort. We brought kayaks and enjoyed paddling the miles and miles of interconnected lakes with our family. The alligators are docile but not to the point of being a concern. The swim lake, complete with 6-person waterslide, and the saltwater resort-style swimming pool offered a respite from the triple-digit heat on the days we were there. We rented a private cabin which was a dud (Second Wind), so make sure to do your research before selecting from the many lodging options, as some are much better than others. The resort is very large which made for great nature walking, though the intense heat cut our outdoor time short. Would love to go back in the fall or spring!

  • Review 29 (2022-05-08 - Rating: 4)

Its beautiful. Probably wouldnt stay in the dead heat of summer, their AC units had problems handling May heat. Great place for fishing but bring your off spray. Take a broom, spider webs form over night. The views and serenity are restorative.

  • Review 30 (2020-07-08 - Rating: 5)

Excellent family adventure. Nice resort style pool, clear Lake water with a fun slide and lots more. Fishing, canoeing and bike riding. We stayed at the Trinity house. The home has a few issues and is a little pricey, but was very cozy and comfortable.

  • Review 31 (2018-09-15 - Rating: 4)

We enjoyed the all-you-can-eat fried catfish, fried shrimp, boiled shrimp. The salad bar was really good with a nice variety of vegetables, all fresh. The bread pudding with whiskey sauce was delicious but unfortunately by that time I was almost too full to try it.The Retreat is located in a beautiful wooded resort near the trinity river and is impeccably maintained. Tall Pine trees and Heritage Oaks with lots of Spanish moss make it look like a movie set . It is an out-of-the-way location but well worth the effort to get there.

  • Review 32 (2016-06-06 - Rating: 5)

Our stay the The Retreat was very nice. We went for a weekend of relaxation and that is what we got. The restaurant is definitely the highlight. The food and service are wonderful. My only complaint is that the mattress was so big that the sheets wouldnt stay on but the bed was very comfortable. We will be back.

  • Review 33 (2019-02-02 - Rating: 4)

Want to get away from Houston, feel like your a long way off, but actually near by? This is the place. Cabins for rental or lots and cabins for sale. Restaurant on the grounds, stables, fishing, or even watching the frequent 12+ foot gator glide by. If that doesnt frighteningly you,(and it shouldnt), then you can rent a canoe. Great place for a couples cozy retreat, a family getaway with kids, or even a group of friends. Enjoy the quiet and wildlife of Southeast Texas, and relax for a weekend or a week. Great place for corporate retreats. Homey, folksy and every modern convenience. Dont miss this jewel.

  • Review 34 (2018-04-14 - Rating: 5)

The grounds are wooded and full of wildlife. Its peaceful and relaxing, quiet and dark at night. The private cabins are all gorgeous, there is maybe service, with clean towels and supplies, at all the cabins. The lakes are expansive, the porches on each house give you the feeling of hanging right over the lake.

  • Review 35 (2018-07-04 - Rating: 4)

Me and my family had an AMAZING time here, beautiful scenery, very peaceful, we really enjoyed our stay. The reason for the not 5 stars is the cabin seemed like it was not cleaned good, we had to clean and sweep as soon as we got there..we stayed in the Trinity btw and cobwebs everywhere, I know we are in the woods but I would expect who ever cleans after each stay would hose off all swings and chairs and benches from cobwebs... the Friday seafood buffet was all out of boiled shrimp and we still had to pay full price, waitress was awesome for Friday dinner and Sunday brunch. I would definitely return to the retreat in the future.

  • Review 36 (2016-03-07 - Rating: 4)

We had a great time, we bought the Lovers Package. The food was great and the grounds are very scenic. A nice pool, though chilly, and a really nice hot tub grotto. We were disappointed that our cabin didnt include the double jacuzzi that we were told it would include. The bathroom in our cabin is in need of an update. The wifi was really slow and spotty (I know I shouldnt focus on wifi in a wooded cabin, but if they offer it I expect it to work). There was an oven and stove but no pans which was weird. Overall though I would recommend the place and I would definitely return.

We stayed at Zollers Point. Fantastic! So much fun! It was a small family reunion. We did a campfire, took out the jon boat, played volleyball, walked, swam at the awesome resort pool, slid down the water slides and swam in the lake area. OMG so much fun! The house has everything! Cookware, plates, bowls, wine glasses, ice trays, fire pit, charcoal grill, plenty of space, TVs wrap around porch. I mean everything! We had a great time. Front desk is very polite and nice. Definitely worth every penny. Thank you!

We just spent the last couple of days there with our grandkids, 11 and 8. They loved it, swimming in the pool and the swim lake, hiking, fishing, looking at the beautiful lakes right outside our cabin door! Family summer vacation tradition now!p.s. Hubby and I were just here two months ago. That is how much we love the serenity of the Artesian lakes resort!

  • Review 39 (2020-08-03 - Rating: 4)

Our cabin was spacious and close to the pool and swimming lake. It was a nice vacation to take during Coronavirus as we could keep our social distance and have fun.A couple reasons why I didnt give it 5 stars:1. They dont clean the floor of the cabin. It was so dirty with sand that we had to wear flip flops inside.2. They cancelled the complimentary horse and carriage ride for all day even though it rained for only an hour. Also no complimentary breakfast due to Coronavirus. But their nightly prices stated the same.

  • Review 40 (2019-11-04 - Rating: 4)

My boyfriend and I went here for our Anniversary.ROOM:We stayed in the Bern Miliam cabin on one of the lakes and it was adorable. Its also situated further than the other cabins in this spot. The beds were super comfy, hot shower water, AC, outside swing, small kitchen, it was everything we needed. Although there is a fire pit, it was uncomfortably close to the bushes so our fires were rather small. Also, the number of spider webs between the windows was a little alarming but its like they were inside, so we didnt mind. It is defenitely glamping so dont expect anything fancy.FOOD:We booked the lovers package, so all of our meals were prepared for us and we didnt need to bring any food. The office gives you the times for your meals, which was a bit confusing. The first night at dinner was amazing. Our waitress Blithe was incredible! We werent sure if we wanted the actual meals or the buffet, took a long time deciding and changed our minds a few times. She didnt try to rush us and made us feel right at home. We fully enjoyed having here wait on us. We went with the buffet and decided to have the chef cooked meals on Saturday (our actual anniversary) the buffet was very good, although the choices are somewhat limited.Carriage to breakfast in the morning - so cute.Lunch on saturday was provided in the cutest wicker basket full of sandwiches (SOOO YUMMY), chips, fruit, pasta salad, and water. We got a blanket and went and found a shaded spot to eat.On Saturday there was also a wedding that night, Bummed that we couldnt go to the restaurant we got excited to have an easy, romantic dinner in the cabin... SO WE THOUGHT. We were told the staff would drop off a menu at 4 pm, when we were ready we were to call the office and let them know what we wanted. At 5:30 pm I have to call the office because there is no menu and we are starving. The lady should someone is coming by with our food, like wait, what?!? We havent even ordered yet... The staff came by with some salads and chicken with potatoes-the leftover wedding food, pretty much- the whole thing was an unorganized disaster and no one seemed to know what was going on. This was a special night for us, we paid a lot of money for this trip and that made us feel like we were pushed to the back burner. It was very frustrating that they couldnt let us know what was going on. There wasnt much we could do so we made the best out of it.Breakfast in the cabin the next morning was nice, although, 10 am seems a bit late for breakfast.ACTIVITIES:-Disc golf course was fun - Goes by colors not numbers-BRING BIKES - If we wouldnt have brought our bikes we would have been doing a lot of walking and then driving to and from the front. The retreat is huge, we didnt even get through half of it; meaning exploring the owners side.-Canoeing - Fun, we didnt get too far but it seemed like you could go on forever! We also werent able to catch any fish :(-Swim Pond/Pool - It was warm enough to go down the slide at the swimming pond but didnt get the chance because we were so busy exploring! We did, however, go in the hot tub at night which was nice.Although we probably wouldnt get the lovers package again, we would definitely go back. Overall it was a fun place with lots to do and plenty of wildlife to see.

  • Review 41 (2015-10-12 - Rating: 4)

Nice place to unplug. We enjoyed it. Just make sure to bring extra linens. There is only one sheet provided per bed. No blankets or extras and the non-washable bed covers are not really a clean option. Nearest town is a 20-30 minute drive so bringing snacks and drinks is a good idea too.

  • Review 42 (2016-05-09 - Rating: 5)

Our first stay was Mothers Day weekend 2016 and we loved our experience! We shared the William B. Travis cabin for 10 with my sister and her family which has 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms along with a loft for the kids. We had 5 adults and four children and it was definitely roomy enough. The loft area has steep stairs so if you have children under the age of 5 you will most likely have to watch them go up and down the stairs so they dont slip and if you have really little ones you will want to put up a baby gate or block it off with a cooler for your own peace of mind. The loft area is definitely cool for kids but it has steep slanted areas and only the center is tall enough to walk through for an adult so adults wouldnt be very comfortable up there (as they clearly state on the cabin layout). Also keep in mind the loft is directly above the kitchen so anyone who likes to sleep in (a.k.a. teenagers) will be out of luck! ;)The full kitchen was nice, but as another reviewer shared there are no pots, pans or cookie sheets and you will also need to bring your own knives and serving spoons. There were two fire pits at the cabin but there is no grate on top so it is only for a bonfire type experience so if you want to cook outside you will need to bring a small charcoal grill. The secondary bedrooms are big enough to fit two adults with just enough walking space around the sides and end of the bed but thats about it. The master is the largest of course so if you have a family with infant or toddlers it will fit a twin sized airbed and a pack n play as well. Keep in mind the cabins are rustic log cabins so you can hear everything in the house, from everywhere in the house. Some of the cabin decks hang out over the lakes which is something you will definitely want to make sure you get especially if you have any fishermen (Or women) in the family. We did not have to lug out the fishing gear to the edge of the water - you can just cast off right off the deck. The wildlife was amazing! We heard bullfrogs all day, a little raccoon loved loved to visit under the house and peek his head out, and the alligators were very entertaining to watch down below us while we were safely at the top of the deck. We rented canoes to go in and out of the lake areas and even when we would see alligators in the water they would be so scared of us they would dive in as soon as they realized we were coming. The complimentary breakfast on Saturday morning with the horse drawn carriage ride was one of our favorite parts. The breakfast buffet was nice with french toast, a breakfast casserole, eggs, ham, sausage, bagels, muffins, cereal, o.j., milk (regular and almond milk). Just a FYI - the carriage has a bucket for tips and although the breakfast is complimentary at the end of dining they handed us a bill which was simply a ticket where we could add a tip for the wait staff. We brought a little cash but if you do not have cash you can indicate a tip amount you want charged to your room.We loved how close the swimming area was to walk to. Our older boys loved the lake-like swimming hole with sandy beaches (also with minnows, lol!) because it had steep water slides - so fun! If you arent into that kind of swimming there is a salt water pool right next to it that is very clean and not very deep (goes from 3ft - 4 1/2 ft) with several places with stairs or gradual depth areas so if you have little ones they can easily sit and play there. There is also a covered hot tub area for ages 12+We saw a disc golf course which we were going to play (we brought our discs and everything!) but we ran out of time as well as hiking areas which we also did not have time for. Next time we will stay for one more day to fit it all in! Definitely a fun experience and the perfect blend of camping and not camping all in one. We loved being able to go in and relax in the A/C in the cabin to recharge and then head back out for more adventure. Such an amazing experience and we will definitely come back!

We loved staying here! The cabins were spacious and had a great kitchen to prep meals. (Need your own cookware, but have drove, over, sink, fridge, toaster, and coffee maker.) The porch and fire pit is where we spent most of our outdoor time, or canoeing the lake with the canoe rental. Bring your fishing pole because these fish were active! All kinds of creatures to be observed from gators, to turtles, and even raccoons!

Just stopped in to check it out as a guest. Absolutely beautiful boardwalk decks, overlooking the lakeside park. Definitely interested in reserving one of their amazing lakeside cabins for at least a weekend retreat, and do some fishing. There are a bunch of photos hanging in the lobby, of past resident guests holding up some really nice size largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, and some huge catfish. So all of that sounds exciting, adventurous, and just flat out fun to me. BUT.... Yes, there is a but. But what if I really just want to unwind, kick back, and relax? Th

This place is wonderful. Very quiet, and close to the nature. Spent a few days at a cabin by the lake, alligators, turtles, fish right below our feet. The cabins are cosy, but its enough to enjoy the scenery decently (we came with 2 toddlers). They have a fridge, stove, oven, microwave and basic cutlery. There is a pool and a lake where you can swim or slide. Everything is walkable, which is great to enjoy the beautiful tall trees. In the morning, the horse-drawn carriage would take you to the restaurant. We had breakfast included; the buffet was full and offered many choices. The staff was available for us.If you want to come with your pets, this is not the place for you. (The website clearly states that pets are not allowed).

Weve been coming here for years, every since its been red arrow, this place is wonderful to bring your children and grandchildren, you dont have to worry about anything, they LOVED taking off on the bicycles with their swimming trunks and fishing poles. They talk about it for weeks, most importantly, we made memories that will never be forgotten. LOVE this place.

These guys provided an amazing retreat/reunion for me and 80 of my brothers from 3rd Battalion 6th Marines. What a fantastic way to reconnect after 17 years. Their partnership with Siemper Fi & Americas Fund is amazing. They do this all the time. Give them your support!

  • Review 49 (2016-06-05 - Rating: 5)

Quiet getaway, very enjoyable. Negative reviews are too used to city life. This is a rustic, back to nature, relaxing atmosphere. Wildlife all around, from alligators gliding past your cabin in one of the many ponds, to cardinals flying through the trees. A very relaxing place to spend a weekend.

Why didnt I listen to her sooner! Absolutely love this place. Making it a goal to be there every other month! And fellas, listen to your wife! 😂

  • Review 52 (2018-07-25 - Rating: 4)

Our family group of 40 visited for 3 nights and we had an incredible time! In total our group had 10 cabins. The kids would swim in the huge pool and then take turns sliding down into the swim lake. Two bikes at every cabin make it easier for them to get around. I might recommend a side by side if you have lots of stuff and small children. We rented a canoe for weekend and it was so good for the soul. Being connected to nature and unplugged from the world is such a breath of fresh air. The only reason I did not give them 4 🌟 is because there are little things that could be fixed. House keeping could try a little harder when they sweep and mop. Dust collected under bed and behind furniture. Area around trash can and oven were wood so they have collected grime over the years and our refrigerator had quite a bit of rust. The chairs at the pool needed to be pressure washed along with some of the walls. Our cabin, the Lone Star, was so big and fit our needs perfectly! Stocked up with towels, swim towels and wash clothes. Plenty of coffee, cups and general dishes furnished. We had lots of pillows and the beds were very comfortable. Rooms have spotty Wi-Fi so my daughter wasnt able to get her college homework done but seriously, why do you need it? Porch swing and picnic table on deck were great. Kids loved watching the gators, fish and turtles from the deck. My husband caught a nice catfish one night right from the deck. We caught little brim with ease. There are so many things to do you will forgot where you put your phone. You can go on a guided horseback ride but we opted out because it was $45 a person. Our room reservation came with a complimentary breakfast at their onsite restraunt. The Hilltop breakfast is a MUST and they will pick you up with horse drawn carriage. Dont forget to pick up a $16 t-shirt on your way home. The next time we go I hope we can stay a little longer!

This is a little jewel just one hour drive from Houston. A perfect weekend getaway to unplug and rejuvenate. Miles of scenic paths along beautiful lakes, swimming pool, horseback riding, cozy log cabins. Just dont forget to bring your own food. 😊Tranquility and peace. A perfect place to take a break from every days stressors.

  • Review 54 (2018-05-07 - Rating: 5)

Great place to relax and get away. Calm waters are great for canoeing, kayaking, or fishing. There are many different winding paths, both on land and water to explore. Plenty of wildlife from alligators, snapping turtles, and all sorts of birds and fish. Cabins are kept clean and tidy and have decore you could imagine having at your own place. Bicycles are parked outside cabins for traveling around or just to go for a pleasant ride.

  • Review 55 (2017-03-18 - Rating: 4)

A quiet, small buffet... very good food (except for the gumbo... dont waste your time with their version of gumbo... youll be very disappointed)... we enjoyed the atmosphere, the service, & with the exception of the gumbo, the food. Call and verify the time and availability of the buffet... its not available everyday. Didnt open until 6pm... small dining area.

The Retreat at Artesian Lakes is a jewel. Ive vacationed there several times and I recommend it to family and friends. The cabins are rustic on the outside, but gracious on the inside. My favorite spot is on the porch swing overlooking one of the beautiful spring-fed lakes, acting like Im the only person for miles. I love it in the winter, when its particularly quiet and peaceful.

  • Review 57 (2016-03-06 - Rating: 4)

Staying at Artesian Lakes was fun. We stayed in a cabin on the property called the Susanah Dickerson with the lovers package that included 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts and a picnic lunch. It also included a horse drawn carriage ride Saturday morning. 1 dissapointment was we were originally told all rooms had jacuzzi hot tubs when our cabin did not. The main pool however did have a grotto hot tub which we did enjoy since it was too cold for the regular pool or lake. The cabins are basic but have the necessities, and are nicer than just camping indoors. I like that each cabin has some free bikes for use too. Good place for families and couples overall.

  • Review 58 (2016-04-11 - Rating: 5)

Best kept secret in East Texas. Beautiful gated resort/community. Cabins are spectacular very spacious, full kitchen and bathrooms. The restaurant on site does a decent job if youre not cooking for yourself. Tons to do fishing, hiking, kayaking, there are free bikes to use, disc golf, swimming, volleyball. Great wildlife viewing tons of very active alligators, turtles, snakes, racoons, rabbits, birds. Went for a conference but definitely will be coming back. Great customer service! Plus its only an hour north of Houston

  • Review 59 (2018-01-02 - Rating: 4)

Had a great stay there, the staff was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Our cabin was in pretty good shape, only complaint would be a few too many cockroaches showed up, but make sure youre diligent about not keeping food out and it should be fine.

  • Review 60 (2018-05-27 - Rating: 5)

Artesian lakes is like a home away from home. I love comming here every time. This is the perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying a bit of nature. The restaurant is always a great meal, and the staff are super friendly.

The Cast Away cabon was so gorgeous and a delight to stay in with my entire family. The view of the lake was gorgeous and just very peaceful to be there. The kitchen was spacious though lacked some small amenities such as a full knife block, toaster, and complete kitchen utensil set. Somethings that would have sweeteners the pot so to speak is if the rental of the cabin included the use of the golf cart and boat. Understandable that these are someone elses property but would have been nice to have the option. Overall I loved the place and would recommend to everyone.

Spent three days there and I have zero complaints.✔From the horse and carriage ride,🏇 to the spectacular view of the lake from our backdoor to an awsome pool to an even more awsome lake to swim in. 🏊‍♂️ 🚴‍♂️Bike rides, canoeing🚣‍♂️Peaceful and calming little vacation. Really love the fact about NO TELEVISION!📵 With no electronics we were actually able to enjoy each others company while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.🌞🌠 Highly recommended!💯

Great place to bring the kids for a vacation or the wife for a nice romantic weekend. The cabins are very nice and have all of the amenities you need. Four star restaurant and an on site swimming pool and hot tub. I would recommend for everyone to go and stay for at least a night if you cant stay for the weekend!

  • Review 67 (2020-09-20 - Rating: 5)

Love it here, way better than when I was a little girl. I think they have done a great job at keeping it peaceful. You have to rent a cabin for two nights to be able to enter but thats why it stays so nice!!

  • Review 68 (2018-08-30 - Rating: 5)

Love the Retreat At Artesian Lakes, we have stayed in several cabins there (all of which overlook a lake, that are home to ALIGATORS, non aggresive). We really enjoy the pool area, horse back riding and of course the carriage ride to an awesome breakfast ( prepared there, with a home cooked feel resturant atmosphere). I would definitely recommend this retreat to anyone wanting to get away with their family (no tvs, in the cabins) we always have an awesome time !

Ahhh. A place for the whole family. If you want to get away from the poor people and still feel like you’re “camping in the outdoors” this is the perfect place to go. Chain-O-Lakes, what’s that? Oh yeah, the place that people who didn’t have money used to camp and have fun. No that place don’t exist no more. Sorry. Maybe setup a tent by a bridge going over the river?

  • Review 72 (2018-06-29 - Rating: 5)

Stables was awesome with assisting my 96 year old patient in mounting and riding a horse for the first time in 80 years! Very memorable for him and his family was able to share in his excitement with the photos the wrangler allowed me to take even though it was time consuming and very hot!

  • Review 75 (2017-04-16 - Rating: 5)

The pool and hot tub are amazing. There is a lot to do here including frisbee golf, massage, a slide into a lake, etc. Tonight is a hay ride and Smores. The only downside is that the playgrounds are very old and much of the equipment broken.

  • Review 76 (2019-07-19 - Rating: 5)

Had the pleasure of going there to meet a client for work and was quite surprised by this hidden gem. There is plenty of water to peruse and it looks clean/clear with plenty of fish. Understand you can rent cabins or camp...as well as purchase property.

  • Review 81 (2018-06-03 - Rating: 4)

This is an awesome retreat. The only problem is bugs(if youre that kind of person), and that there is not as many options what to do. Pretty much just water sports, horseback riding, and smores. There is a awesome breakfast buffet also.
