We are in the process of moving from Houston to Horseshoe Bay. After 6 months of back and forth, this was our first winery visit. Truly first class!Whoever wrote the review that said “They should have used stucco??? Insane ! This is built of Texas limestone - perfection. Well built, 5 star view, five star wine, 5 star service. -

I’m definitely not a wine guy, but this is still an awesome place to visit. The views of the Texas hill country are amazing! The place is perched on top of a hill, so even the terrace on the ground floor has amazing views. After you order your wine, head on up to the fourth-floor terrace for even more astounding views of this beautiful ranch. As someone else pointed out, it’s a wine bar; they do not make their own wine here. But don’t let that stop you from paying them a visit. I counted 29 varieties of wine on their list. Choices from Argentina, Spain, California, Sicily, France, South Africa, Oregon, and of course, good ol’ Texas wine (and many more states and countries that I haven’t listed). You can order a glass of wine, a full bottle of wine, or do what I did. You can go for the “Wine Tasting” for $14.95. You get your choice of five different wines (one-ounce pours). I’m new to the wine scene, so I was expecting to pick all five choices up front and have them served like a beer flight. Evidently, that’s not the case with wine tastings. You make your first choice and the one-ounce pour is served in a regular sized wine glass. Then, you return to the bar for each choice after that. The only thing I didn’t dig, is that they didn’t rinse the glass when you returned for your next choice. So, if you had a red wine, and then returned for a white wine, a little of it was mixed in with the other. Again, I don’t profess to be a wine dude, but this doesn’t seem right to me, if you are trying to get the true flavor of each wine.I didn’t stay here overnight; I just did a day trip. But they have several suites you can stay in, and five or six houses on the sprawling ranch that you can vacation in. I spoke to one of the guests who was staying in one of the suites, and he said it was “absolutely awesome”! -

Fantastic day to be at the Arc! Excellent service and great wine. The view is too die for and if you stay, you can ride your 4-wheelers on the huge ranch (for $25 each I think) I live minutes away and I want to go stay a night or two and take our 4-wheeler! -

It is as they say, lovely wine with great views! We had a relaxing time sitting on the top floor of this beautiful place enjoying the sites sipping wine. -
Review 5 (2020-08-03 - Rating: 4)
They have great views. They have a bunch of wines to choose from but I wish they had more than 1 wine that they make. And I didnt even buy that one cause I only like sweet ones. The cheese spread that one of their tour guides makes is good. We bought the spread that comes with crackers, a bottle of Twin Springs Sweet Red and 2 of their wine glasses. We sat on the back patio overlooking the small pool and hot tub area for about 30 minutes while snacking and drinking a glass of the wine before getting back on the road. It was a nice little break in the road trip. -

I drove past this not-so-hidden treasure randomly and had to make a pit stop before driving the rest of the way home. It just so happened to be right before sunset which made my first time there pretty remarkable. They had a great selection of wine and the view is as great as it gets for wine drinking in the TX Hill Country! -

We’ve driven past Arc De Texas numerous times and finally decided to stop and check it out... The view from the top was absolutely beautiful and enjoyed with a glass of wine in hand. Would like to go back and stay on the property! -

Great rooftop views and a nice selection of wines (not just Texan) in their tasting room. -
Review 9 (2020-09-21 - Rating: 5)
Opens at 12 pm and closes at 7 pm. They dont have charcuterie boards. If you want a bottle of wine and see the sunset this is the place to go. Enjoyed great conversation with my fiance and seeing the sunset. -

I love this place! The bartender is so sweet and friendly. Their cheese plate is delicious. I love that they are dog friendly. They have two cute dogs that are the winery dogs. Titan is a golden retriever and he was really sweet. The views are beautiful. Highly recommend. -

On our way today to Willow City Loop to see the bluebonnets, we passed by some beautiful wildflowers right by Arc de Texas. The winery piqued my interest but I was really hoping to see more flowers as we went up the way.Seeing the sign for chocolate made me stop in to see what was waiting for me. There were multiple flavors with pecan in the name. Each truffle is $2.95 and individually packaged. I chose 2 of each - Pecan Rum, Pecan Toffee, and Peach Bourbon. The truffle tasted great but not with a hint of pecan taste or crunch though. I could taste the bourbon but not the peach.Maybe the next time we could enjoy some of the wine on the rooftop terrace for sunset. -
Review 18 (2018-03-13 - Rating: 5)
Good selection of wine. But every tasting room has that. The rooftop patio is what makes Arc De Texas stand out. You can see for 20 miles in every direction-it is particularly cool at sunset. This is a very friendly and welcoming place, and it has style. -
Review 19 (2016-06-10 - Rating: 5)
10/10 would recommend to a friend. Great recommendations from bacon/coffee South African wine to the finest port Ive ever tasted. The views from the top floor of the tower is worth it enough. Best winery in the Austin/Fredricksburg area we visited -
Review 20 (2020-02-22 - Rating: 5)
I have been admiring this spot from the road for awhile and today, decided to stop. The person inside was friendly. My daughter loved the jerky. Her boyfriend enjoyed the 5 samples for wine tasting. There are wines from all over the world. The place had many beers to choose from also. They had chocolate, cigars, drinks, and jerky also. One can even stay in a suite here with a minimum two night stay. The place has several houses that can be rented also. We will be back. Dont forget to take the elevator to the top floor to check out the view. -
Review 21 (2015-05-25 - Rating: 5)
Nice place to stop, rest, relax, and enjoy friendly folks and a great view. My wife and I stopped here on the way to Wimberley because we saw a sign that talked about wine tasting and great views. The wines are local Texas wines and the view is great. You purchase your wine on the first floor then you can take an elevator to the 4th floor observation deck which allows you a 360 degree view of the surrounding Texas Hill Country, and you can see for miles due to no other tall structure or obstructions in the area. The observation deck has many tables to sit and enjoy the view and visit and drink your wine. There is no time limit or no hurry for you to leave, so you can take your time and enjoy at a leisurely pace. The owners are very friendly and were willing to answer any questions we had about the place and about the art of wine tasting. Highly recommended. -

Great spot with beautiful views!!! We stopped by on our way to fredericksburg because the Arc looked great and ended up staying for some wine. The lady there was very helpful and found a wine for us that tasted great! Very great service! The cups were plastic because there are rules. Another reviewer complained about this, in my opinion they should have asked why or should have read the signs around the room that were there when I went. Oh, well.Back to the views, we went to the 4th floor and it was quite amazing! Unfortunately, it was so hot that we just took a few pictures and left after 5 minutes of sitting because it is HOT! I would certainly come here during the fall/winter (Just thinking about it is so great!).They also have a Bed amd breakfast that seemed nice! It seemed like a great place to stay.I hope to come back soon when Im back in the area, because this is a great place! -
Review 23 (2019-04-07 - Rating: 4)
Great views and a large wine selection. The rooftop has great views and looks to be a good place to hang out. We looked around and then went down to the first floor since it was a chilly windy day.Not many Texas wines. The Trapiche Malbec from Argentina is good.Lots of residences to rent on the property. The Lighthouse looks to be a great place to stay. -

Review 28 (2016-09-14 - Rating: 5)
This is not a sight you will encounter every day in the rolling hills of the Texas hill country. In fact, it is a bit startling to see this limestone monolithic arc towering above the highway in the adjacent hills as you approach Johnson City from the south. The rustic entry to the Arc de Triomphe mimic is quintessential Texas ranch style with a sign and letters made of wrought iron over the gate proclaiming the Arc de Texas entrance. No covered parking lot for this bed (no breakfast) and wine tasting francophilic inn. Just a packed gravel lot and a long inclined walkway up to the breezeway between the arc. Large concrete patios with tables and chairs to enjoy the views border either side of the 4 storied edifice. To the left of the breezeway is the wine tasting room, to the right a nicely appointed (you can still smell the leather of the couches and chairs) foyer and elevator to the rooms and the roof top.The wine tasting room is opulently decorated in hill country chic yet gives off a comfortable vibe. There are some interesting wines from local vintners and from other global sources as well such as Africa and New Zealand. We selected a flight of five wines and enjoyed the wide variety and flavors. The house sommelier was only slightly helpful and a little less than voluntary with wine descriptions and tastes. We decided to partake of a full pour of very good Riesling and departed to the right side of the arc to ascend to the roof.It was still a warm summer day and the outside temp and humidity was enough to shorten our visit up top, but not before relaxing our eyes with views of the surrounding country side and distant views of verdant rolling hills and ranches. Just north of the Arc, the Lighthouse Ranch (a sister property) could be seen with its copper roof top pinnacle jutting into the air above the hill it rested upon. The magnificent vistas from all sides of the building roof could not be seen, however if sitting down in one of several tables in the open or under the shade of a small pergola. Downstairs again, we relaxed in the air condition foyer to cool off then finished our glasses of wine outside at one of the shady tables in front.Barely a couple or two during the week, I understand that it can be rather crowded on the weekend. No food is served here, other than some meats and cheeses if they happen to be in stock. You are welcome to bring your own picnic however, and enjoy it on the premises.Staying here would be interesting in such an unusual guest abode seemingly in the middle of nowhere. There is a pool in the back and a bbq grill on the patio for the over-nighters. Trips into Johnson City for eats or to Blanco State Park, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Nature Area and the LBJ Ranch for exploring are certainly entertaining options. -
