An absolutely gorgeous and well maintained property. We came out here for a quick weekend getaway and had an amazing time. The service was so warm and welcoming and the cabin was clean and fully functioning. All the amenities were well taken care of and there was so much to do with friends and family. We highly recommend coming here. -

Sons Rio Cibolo is a fantastic destination for families seeking a memorable getaway. The property is beautifully maintained, offering clean and comfortable accommodations. Kids will love the game room and pools, while adults can enjoy kayaking, fishing, and nature trails along the spring-fed Cibolo Creek. The staff is friendly and helpful, ensuring a pleasant stay. We cant wait to return! -

Noticed many new tents and cabins added to revitalize Rio Cibolo Ranch. Drove through and noticed really nice single tents, family sized cabins, glamping units and day-use spaces available. Beautiful outdoor getaway spaces with swimming, canoeing and hiking outdoors and the comfort of AC units indoors. Reservations can be made online. People are already enjoying these new units. P.S. They still have a few longhorn cattle and buffalo on the ranch. -

Stumbled across Sonās Rio Cibolo while looking for a place to get away for a few days with my husband and baby. Love it here! So peaceful. We stayed in a waterfront cabin and ended up adding an extra night to the stay after only being here a few hours. Tons of water activities and everything needed for a fun stay, including; personal fire pit, pools, kayaking, hammocks to relax, etc. We are planning to return for another long weekend in a few months.Highly recommend -

My daughter told us about this location and this property really went above our expectations. It is remote so it was amazing to leave city behind for a bit. Staff member Rachel was very welcoming. Taylor was extremely knowledgeable of this resort. The rooms were so clean and pool was great. The cabanas was amazing for my whole family to gather and enjoy the sun. We will be back very soon. We encourage anyone to come by and visit this place, you wont be disappointed. -

Tris was recommended by a friend. We were so impressed with this resort. Cabins were clean and spacious. Bathroom trailers were clean and very well kept. Staff Member Rachel welcomed us and did great explaining the property. We will be back soon!! -

We took our son and a couple friends to Sons Rio Cibolo for his 13th birthday and we all had a blast. We stayed in the Safari Deluxe cabin which was very comfortable for 5. The bathroom, kitchen and sleeping areas were all updated and made for an ideal āglampingā experience. If youāre an experienced camper, they have areas for tents too.The staff members were very welcoming and accommodating. They were great with answering the questions I had before we arrived. During check-in, Rachel gave us a thorough rundown of the property, amenities and our stay. She even went out of her way to find some skewers for our sāmores and hot dogs since we forgot ours! The amenities were great. Between paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, hiking, basketball and the game room, the boys never had a dull moment. The grills, fire pit and kitchen made for some quick and easy meals. The cabana rentals eliminated the need to go back and forth to our cabin while enjoying the day by the water. I highly recommend adding it on to your stay, especially since it includes your kayaks and paddle boards for the day.Overall, we had a fantastic stay! Special thanks to Rachel for her warm welcome and accommodating nature! -

We went for our 16th anniversary this past Tuesday. Had a blast! It was awesome. Will definitely go back again for a group trip. The place was clean, quiet & very relaxing. I loved the multiple pools. Its great for privacy & relaxation. We luckily were the only two in the pool at one time & it was nice.ONLY complaint I have is the LONG list of rules. Were not crazy party ppl looking to destroy rooms. However I did feel uncomfortable because I was worried we were going to do something against the rules.Plus they charged a $75 for cleaning fees. But the paper posted on the wall said clean or you get charged $75. We did clean but the $75 is nonrefundable. Lol -

Spent the weekend at Sons Rio Cibilo! We stayed in a bird nest cabin (water front) All essentials were there. The cabin was beautiful and spacious, with a nice patio over looking the creek. We also had a cabana on the creek for the day Saturday. the property was very well maintained and it was a nice, peaceful, relaxing weekend in nature! Thanks guys for having us! I left my reef flip flops in my cabin was the only thing that wasnt perfect this weekend. -

My kids and I had a great time. We tried this place out cause they were having a special on the cabanas and kayak rentals. We had a lot of fun also learning how to paddle hard and exploring the creek. We went during the week so it wasnt overly crowded. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the safari tent, I felt it was a good price for the experience. -

Quite possibly one of the best kept secrets in Texas! We stayed one night in the water front cabins, we felt like we were staying in the jungle! Coolest raised cabin ever! Falling asleep to crickets lullabies, hearing owls, coyotes and frog without getting eating by mosquitos was incredible. We ate breakfast on the back porch watching squirrels jump from tree to tree. We didnt get to do any water activities this trip, but we will next time! -

We had a great time and everything was ready and clean when we arrived. So much to do, my granddaughter loved the river and kayaking she got really good, unlike grandma who went around in circles. The pools and hot tub were fun, and the fire pit at night we definitely enjoyed. My only issues there were large groups ( both days, different groups) that were loud, in general and playing music louder than necessary. We also had a kayak tied to the dock by our cabana with items that we were using on the river, someone took our volleyball when we went to the bathroom, and while we were sitting in the cabana someone tried to untie and take the kayak, there are definitely enough kayaks and boards for everyone so that was totally unnecessary. But we will definitely be back before the end of summer, -

I took my best friend out for a few hours for her birthday last month. We had a blast. Rachel greeted us when we arrived and was the kindest and also very informative on the park and other activities in the area to try out. We have been back once since then and looking forward to our next visit. Thank you again for the welcoming environment and relaxing day away from work and the city. -

We rented a cabana for the day and it was perfect! Sunday in late October is a great time to go if you want peace and quiet with very few other visitors. -
Review 16 (2024-07-03 - Rating: 5)
The cabin was great. All needed amenities. There was no stove because the cabin was partially canvas, but a hot plate was provided to use on the back deck. There was not a place to plug it in except to sit it on the railing. The hot plate was old, so took a long time to cook bacon. The complimentary kayaks were great and so much fun. We enjoyed our stay. -

This place that is so close to San Antonio is a hidden gem. My family and I loved this place. Rooms were clean. Rachel, General Manager welcomed us and did great in explaining the amenities. We will definitely be back. -

My family stayed in the Safari Cabins. Our tent was clean when we arrived and air conditioned which made bed time comfortable in July! All staff we encountered were so nice and helpful. We enjoyed the cabanas by the river and spent most of our time there and in the river. We kayaked and played hard on the large floating mats. Our kiddos enjoyed diving for shells and even found dollars! We greatly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend a family camping trip. -

Kayaking was definitely fun for the kids. The safety of the people is there priority I absolutely love that. Definitely canāt wait to book the next stay ! -
Review 20 (2024-04-02 - Rating: 5)
My family and I recently enjoyed our second annual stay at Sons Rio in Cibolo, TX, and once again, it did not disappoint. The spacious and comfortable accommodations, coupled with the plethora of amenities, made for a memorable vacation experience. The birdhouse we reserved provided ample space for our family, and the beds were remarkably comfortable, ensuring a good nights rest for all. We appreciated the variety of beds provided, catering to different preferences and needs. The kitchen was well-stocked with plenty of dishes, which was a plus for our family. However, we were disappointed to find that despite being charged a $59 cleaning fee, the dishes were not cleaned, and there were crumbs left in the drawers. While we understand that cleaning up after guests can be challenging, especially in a communal setting, we expected a higher standard of cleanliness given the fee charged.Despite this minor setback, the camping site offered an array of activities for both relaxation and adventure. From kayaking and paddle boarding to lounging by the pool and hot tub, there was no shortage of entertainment options. Our kids particularly enjoyed the game room, providing hours of fun and excitement.Additionally, the provided parking spot, BBQ, and fire pit added to the convenience and enjoyment of our stay. The tranquil surroundings and well-maintained facilities made it easy for us to unwind and connect with nature.Overall, we had a fantastic time at Sons Rio and would highly recommend it to other families looking for a peaceful yet fun-filled getaway. Despite the cleanliness issue, we would not hesitate to visit again and create more cherished memories at this wonderful camping site. -
Review 21 (2024-06-02 - Rating: 4)
Overall it was a great place to stay. My kids had a blast on the river and it was awesome being so close to the water sports rentals. The game room was also a nice touch for when they needed to get out of the sun. A few things I noticed- the light fixture or fan was missing in the bathroom of our cabin. Also the beds and pillows were really uncomfortable. The kids didnāt care but the adults didnāt sleep well. The grounds were really nice but there were a lot of snakes in the river. We saw the signs warning us which was appreciated, however I do think they could be relocated and repelled. It would have been nice if there was a small convenience store on site for ice, drinks and snacks. Also I noticed the rodeo arena on the grounds- lots of opportunities there for activities such as scrambles, potato sack races and other activities for kids. -
Review 22 (2024-04-06 - Rating: 5)
Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay here. We rented the birdhouse cabin and and it was very clean and had plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 kids. I found the beds to be pretty comfortable which was a plus since I wasnāt expecting much. I think the some of the kayaks could stand to be cleaned but nonetheless our kids loved them and it was a good experience. The cabanas are clean and spacious. The game room is nice and we enjoyed the variety of games available. Check in process was easy. I would definitely visit again. -
Review 23 (2024-08-07 - Rating: 5)
Amazing experience! We stayed in a waterfront cabin & it was greatAir conditioning keeps the cabin extremely cool, when we arrived the A/C was already on, so the cabin was already cool. The TV was also on, with Netflix open. The WiFi is great! The place is big enough so over crowding doesnāt happen. I would definitely book again in the future. Kayaking and paddle boarding in the river is extremely nice. The cabanas are great as well. -
Review 24 (2024-06-01 - Rating: 5)
Great experience. The kids and I enjoyed this so much. Cabins were clean and thoughtfully put together. Had so much fun kayaking and paddle boarding. They even brought us firewood for a reasonable price (I forgot ours) and one of the employees has the cutest little one who sell smores kits! Much needed that night. We will definitely be back! -
Review 25 (2024-06-10 - Rating: 5)
The birdhouse cabin was a very nice flaming experience. I didnāt realize how much I appreciate the AC in Texas until I got back from the pool or the river. I will say that Sons Blue River had a better river access, so thatās why I rated the location a 4 star. Otherwise it was an excellent experience and would love to go back. Highly recommend. -
Review 26 (2024-07-19 - Rating: 5)
Amazing experience here and is of great value! Came here for an outing with my coworkers at the cabanas and it was perfect. I recommend going early to reserve the one of your choice. Your payment comes with free kayaks and large floating pads, use of grill, basketball & sand volleyball court, pools and hot tubs, and table pool. I am so excited to try the other overnight stays here. -

Had a awesome time with the family. We love staying at the sons properties. This was our first time going to Sons Rio Cibolo and its a trip that we need to do again. The girls love the paddle boards and the kayaking. They made friends and played in the water most of the day. The cabanas are awesome. The bathrooms clean and they have hot water for the showers. We will definitely be going back. -

Beautiful place with so many amenities, loved kayaking through the shady trees and my toddler loved splashing around and playing with all the rocks in the water. The tree houses were so neat, fully airconditioned and a covered porch overlooking the water. We had a kitchen and grilled everyday. The gameroom had tons of games and even a little play area to keep toddlers busy. Loved playing shuffleboard. The cabanas on the water were perfect for hanging out all day, grilling, chilling in a hammock and relaxation. -
Review 31 (2024-08-26 - Rating: 5)
I want to make it known this place deserves 5 stars for making a family atmosphere and taking care of their customers! We had an incident while renting a cabana where some men were trying to call my 15 yr old daughter and her friend over to then in a wooded area and the girls kayaked fast back to me while the men followed them, an altercation took place between our family and theirs of course and many other campers came to our aid after witnessing this. The staff immediately took action and had the sheriff onsite and through out that family as well as banned them to keep future youth safe so I wanted to give them a huge shout out for making our kids feel safe and for jumping into action so quickly and making sure the girls were ok. I will always return to this place for family time! Thank you so much to that staff! -

Beautiful and well maintained spot. My cabin was super clean and close enough to the water. Amazing views from the covered back deck. I absolutely loved the fully stocked kitchen. All you need to bring is your own food. There are cooking utensils and dishes. The blender did not work but it could have been user error. I highly recommend this spot. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. I was secluded just the way I prefer. -

We rented a cabana for the day. We had such a great time. The only issues we had were our cabana didnāt have the dock it said it would have. We had to go take someone elseās. We brought our own kayaks, lily pads and the other guests tried taking our stuff thinking it was a free for all. The service and communication from employees was great. It does seem like itās way too much work with all the waivers and fees they charge. Seems like they charge for every little thing. I do think itās definitely worth it if you catch one of their sales! -

Such a great experience! We stayed in a cabin. It was clean, and had everything we needed! Kayaks and paddle boards were plenty. You didnāt have to worry about not having enough. The service was on point. We called them for fire wood and they immediately delivered it to our site. The view from the cabin was amazing. We woke up to the birds chirping.Overall, amazing experience. We will continue staying here every time we visit Texas!!! -

Review 39 (2024-06-25 - Rating: 4)
We enjoyed our time here, but like the other locations better because theyre more private (were traveling with 3 younger kids). We arrived on a Sunday and it was packed with people using day passes and was more of a party scene. We were looking to get away and enjoy some peace and relative quiet, but it was loud, lots of trash, noise till well after 11 p.m. including lots of vehicle movement (not usually a big deal but they were loud on the gravel going past tents). The pools are a good idea but also stayed pretty full. The water in the river was pretty churned up because of the crowd vs clear like the other locations. The next 2 days were much better when the crowd thinned and the staff was super prompt at responding to a few minor safari tent issues; they also did a great job cleaning the grounds and keeping bathrooms clean (they were hot though!). The game room was a nice break from the heat. We loved the size of the safari tents but will go back to Sons River Rance or Blue River next time - these are both good if you have littles! -
Review 40 (2024-05-10 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely loved every moment!! Even when the river was too cold for us, itās calm and a nice getaway. Nice walking trails, enough space that you donāt feel crowded even when everything is booked. Quiet and a great way to unwind from life and reconnect with your spouse. A/C worked great! Maintenance was FAST to respond to a wasp building a nest. Everyone was super helpful. Bathrooms were always clean and functioning. And added bonus if you play PokĆ©mon Go! Thereās stops to visit. 10/10 will be going again! And youāre close enough to city if you need something or have an emergency at home. But far enough out that you truly feel out and away from it all. Loved it! -
Review 41 (2024-02-15 - Rating: 5)
My family had an absolute wonderful experience. The birdhouses are very spacious and completely stocked with everything you need. We had a view of the river from our balcony which was only a short walking distance away. The kids loved the paddle boards and kayaks. Definitely a weekend trip we want to do again! -
Review 42 (2024-06-14 - Rating: 4)
Enjoyed the day at the cabana. Great place with lots of shade. Our cabana had running water and electricity. The cabanas come with seating for 8, a hammock, a picnic table, and a BBQ pit. We enjoyed kayaking and hanging out on the lily pads and tubes. -
Review 43 (2024-02-16 - Rating: 5)
This was our first camping experience! We really enjoyed it. Was only there for one night as I was just checking out. Before I book a few cabins for the summer. This seems like a great spot for me and my siblings to hang out for a few days. I was very pleased with the hot tub as it was actually HOT! Iāve been on a few cruises and the hot tubs there were always a disappointment! Really loved the bird cabins, we were in #1 and it had a great view of the river. Might even go back for a few days in a couple weeks before summer. Looking forward to also visiting the other spots such as Sons Geronimo and Sons River Ranch. Thank you for such a great experience! We are excited to go back. -
Review 44 (2024-07-26 - Rating: 4)
We recently spent four nights at Sons and stayed in a glamping tent. Hereās a breakdown of our experience:Pros:Well-Equipped Tent: The glamping tent was well-appointed with everything we needed. The air conditioning was effective, though it occasionally got too cold, requiring us to turn it off. Each tent is equipped with a picnic table, BBQ, fire pit, and a shaded canopy. However, the shade was removed during a storm and wasnt replaced even when the weather improved.Great Amenities for Kids: The site offers a variety of activities for children, including a game room, sand volleyball, basketball, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and a pool.Comfortable Cabana Setup: There are numerous cabanas available, each furnished with a picnic table, stools, a counter, a table with four chairs, a BBQ, and a hammock.Water Sports Equipment: The resort provides plenty of kayaks and paddleboards for everyone to enjoy.Cons:Noise Issues: On our first night, we were disturbed by loud Tejano music from the game room at 2:30 a.m. Despite my request for a quieter environment and a text to management, the music continued until 4:30 a.m. The group playing the music was uncooperative and rude.Shared Bathroom Trailer: The shared bathroom trailer for glamping guests was problematic. It often smelled unpleasant, and the floor was frequently flooded due to slow drainage. One bathroom was missing essentials like soap, paper towels, and a mirror, and the other lacked soap entirely. Additionally, the womenās bathroom near the game room only had paper towels for three of our four days there.Cabanas Miscommunication: According to our check-in email, cabanas are available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, on the second day, a staff member rudely told my husband he couldnāt use a cabana without a reservation, despite it being open and included with our glamping rental. The staff member left without further explanation.Muddy Creek: The creek we kayaked in was muddy and had a sewage-like odor in some areas. While this is beyond the resorts control, itās worth mentioning for future visitors.Overall: Despite the issues with noise, staff interactions, and bathroom cleanliness, Sons offers a range of amenities that could keep a family entertained. Improvements in restroom maintenance and staff behavior would significantly enhance the experience. -

This place is a great for vacationing outdoors. My daughter and I tried it for only one day in February just to get the feel for it. We stayed in a bird Cabin as we wanted to have our own bathroom. The hot tubs were nice and actually hot! They have a few swimming pools also. Rented 3 bird cabins for May for my siblings and I to hang out for a few days. Cant wait to go again when its not as cold and be able to enjoy the pool and the lake. Definitely recommend! -

This place is so amazing its impossible to describe! I dont even like the outdoors but went for my daughters 21st birthday at my sisters recommendation and was absolutely blown away. Fans in the cabanas, beautiful well kept water, bbq pits even had tongs (we forgot ours) tons of lily pads for the kids to float on and kayaks were available for big kids and adults. Felt completely safe and peaceful, will undoubtedly return. Worth the drive! -

Very nice get away .We rented the Bird house cabin. Pleased with it having everything you need and only needing to bring a few personal items. My only thing is if you are planning to cook inside or out and use their pots or pans and have a larger group you may want to bring a few larger ones . The ones that are supplied are not very big. I would highly recommend this place and canāt wait to go back.My grandkids did not want to leave . -

Great family place. Easy to navigate creek on paddle boards. Clean birdhouse cabins. Cabanas have running water and fans and pits. Kids like the water and riding bikes on the campgrounds. Staff is easy to spot with marked staff shirts. Fishing you can catch little perch or small bass. Youll see turtles and baby gars minding their own business. Fun rope swing too. -

We had a really wonderful time here! The cabins are greatā¦.except be ready to climb stairs! The late night quiet hours werenāt really enforcedā¦at about 1:30 am we had to go tell our neighbors ourself to please be quiet. I kept hoping someone in charge would do that. -

We met up with my husbandās ex wife and the kids for some fun in the sun. I really liked the property! I felt safe with the kids in the river. We loved the outdoor cabanas. And her tent she got was really nice! It had everything we needed! The ONLY compliant is the amount of flies at the outdoor cabanas. I donāt even know if there is something to do to fix this, but thatās nature for ya anyways. We will definitely be back. -
Review 51 (2024-03-21 - Rating: 5)
The room and amenities were perfect for what we needed for our family of 5. We have three boys 7, 4, and 2. It is a bit spread out so I did have to do quite a bit of walking while holding the two year old but it was doable. The best part is all the kayaks and paddle boards and life jackets available. My 7 year old loved kayaking up and down the river. I love that the river is dammed off too so thereās no where extra my kids could get to. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for our family of 5. We even set up a pack and play which we did not use. But even with the pack n play set up it still felt spacious! My only 2 feed backs would be to send the email about things to bring way more ahead of time. I got it at 7 am the day of. The other feed back is to bring your own plastic wear and plates and cups and pots and pans. The cabins have all this but there is a $75 charge if you leave dirty dishes in the sink. Since Iām expected to clean the dishes, the thought dawned on me that they might not replace the dishes with new dishes between guests. Thatās concerning because itās just not sanitary. All the dishes, silver wear, cups, and pots and pans should be exchanged for sanitized ones. Thereās no dishwashers in the cabin so Iām not sure their process. Hopefully they do in fact exchange them to new, sanitized dishes but I have no way of knowing for sure. Other than that definitely 5 starts. We will definitely be going back! -

Rented out a safari cabin, yes the a/c worked good and kept the whole tent cool. Only thing I disliked was no restrooms or kitchen in the tent. Also lots of wasps around tent area. Whole place gives camping vibes so dont expect luxury. Sunday funday was awesome, free kayaks and paddleboard for anyone to use. The cabanas are first come and they are all along the river. River has deep places to swim and shallow area for toddlers. Would definitely come back for Sunday funday . -
Review 53 (2024-06-24 - Rating: 4)
Over all we took a big group and had 2 glamping tents and 1 safari tent. The rooms were nice and accommodating. If you get a glamping tent I would suggest taking a canopy for the picnic table since there isnt any shade. You also want a tent closer to the middle as if your on the edge the vehicle traffic is loud and the works on the golf carts are loud.Safari area had plenty of shade but has the longest walk to the river. The river area is very nice and shaded, well worth the weekend. They have a nice game room that you can relax in after a long day on the river. The big down fall was the restrooms/ shower area in the evenings start getting nasty. They dont really clean them that I saw except in the morning. They do get really hot and humid but have hot water. -
Review 54 (2023-08-02 - Rating: 5)
I wanted a fun trip for me and my kids and this was definitely it. The tents were impeccably clean, there werent any bugs or pests. The trash was picked up daily. Our tent had everything we needed. I made this trip without my husband so I was very hesitant to do something like this on my own. I am so glad I did. The grounds felt very safe and I loved the proximity we were to the water. The cabanas were awesome. Shade is a must and there was plenty of it. I liked that there was a pool there as well. Highly recommend. We cant wait to come back!! -

Great place for getting away. We just rented a cabana for the day and it was awesome. My kids got to use the paddleboards and kayaks up and down the river. We bbqdand relaxed. Each cabana comes with numerous chairs, a hammock and bbq stand along with a power outlet. Wish I would have booked a cabin. The place is a bit out of the way but worth the drive from Austin. We will definitely be going back -

We rented two cabanas at the last minute to celebrate a birthday. I must say we were shocked that we hadnt visited sooner. This property is very nice and we were very happy with the accommodations. When it was time to go, we immediately regretted not getting a cabin so we could stay longer. The paddle boards and kayaks were the perfect addition for playing in the creek. Looking forward to going back! -

My family had this experience, we loved this family trip, in nature, the rooms are very comfortable and clean, I dont like the pool so much, cause it is small! But if you want to escape and be with your family, in a place with different activities to do and relax, this place is perfect. For food, we found several restaurants about 10 or 15 minutes from the place, excellent too! -

Took my two younger kids for a weekend stay in a cabin. Was very comfortable to stay in. Grill and fire pit at ground level. Water was great, just enough shade not to fry in the summer. Wasnt crowded so when choosing a cabana there was plenty to choose from. My kids learned to use kayaks on their own. It is nature so be careful of algae on the steps leading into the water. My husband slipped and hit hard on the stairs going into the water. Luckily he didnt break a rib on the steps although he sported pretty bad bruises. The river was nice but kind of wish it was a bit longer. Aside from that we had a great time. -

This place was great! We will be back! If you visit and plan on cooking most of your meals, be advised that there is only a portable cook top with two burners to use. We didnāt have a problem with this, it worked out! Also you might want to bring your own knifes to cut food and prep as the knifes were dull. This place was peaceful and relaxing!!! -

This was my familyās second time at a Sonās Island Location. It was our first overnight trip and our first time at Rio Cibolo. It was a great experience. Everything was as advertised (maybe better). The rooms are a good size, plenty of parking, plenty of things to do on the property. It was great for a small or large group. We will definitely be back. Thinking of making it a yearly tradition! -

Was a great place to stay. Away from the city but close enough to suit our vacation to San Antonio. Cabins were clean and the river was nice and cool. Will definitely stay there again if we ever vacation to San Antonio again. -

I was in the safari cabin! It was bigger than it looked online! The location was gorgeous, my friends and I had a lot of fun! It is all walkable distance but going from the safari cabins to the cabanas during the peak of the day is a bit of a trek. Also the bathrooms were a trailer with three bathrooms (shower, toilet, sink) and they were fine until overnight all three got clogged and the entire campsite couldnt go the restroom for the morning. that wasnt fun haha. but they fixed this issue very quickly! I highly recommended this place for a vacation! -

We came here for our daughters 12th birthday. We have been here once before and we love the family friendly atmosphere. We have had problems with other guests being loud after 11pm. We were able to get a hold of the front office and they were quick to respond. Thank you and we will be returning. -

I would love to give this place 5 stars but there are a few things that need improvement. First let me say that we did have an absolute amazing time. We stayed at a birdhouse cabin and we liked it. It could be cleaner and we didnt have enough silverware but I took my own lysol wipes and cleaned everything as I do everywhere we go. The beds are comfortable with plenty of pillows. Bathroom is nice but could use a shower curtain. Full size fridge is perfect. Ac cools very nicely and theres a small little electric fireplace which is cute for ambience and heats well. We loved the back patio area! Our particular cabin was perfect for us. The game room, kayaking and pool area was a hit with the kids. Wifi worked perfect during our stay.. We saw alot of turtles and snakes so be careful. Hot tub was HOT and pool was great. The cabanas by the the creek are adorable and relaxing but there were areas that needed to be cleaned that had previous party balloons and trash. It didnt bother us because there were plenty to choose from since there werent alot of people but I can see where it could get messy pretty quickly. There was a storm before we arrived so there was damage in some areas and alot of fallen trees and branches but the cleaning crew was on top of it. There are a few areas that need maintenance but no big deal.. My main complaint is that there is no quiet time control. We had some very loud neighbors well after 2am... extremely loud. Screaming, yelling etc. There absolutely needs to be someone on top of that, as it makes it very hard for families to sleep and relax. Otherwise I think this place is very nice and worth a stay! The Falcon Family -

We had a great time!!! Rain or shine. We rented the bell tents and they were comfortable. There was a small incident with restroom door at trailers but Jeff office manager helped us and was very apologetic, gave us free wood. Overall we had a great time. -

We had an amazing time here. The little waterfall and stream were perfect for young kids. The water was a little questionable in some areas but they had a pool and hot tub to get in. The kayaks and game room kept us entertained. The whole place was well taken care of and the staff were wonderful. My only complaint was I wish the rules were actually enforced. The cabin next to us had way more than 2 cars/ 8 people. I left for 10 mins and they stole our parking spot under our cabin. It was a hassle making them move. It was way too many people, they were loud past 11 p.m and they were stealing the chairs, hammocks, and fire pit from our cabin. This wouldnt of happen if the 2 car and 8 people max occupancy rule had been enforced. -

9/10; already planning the next visit. I definitely recommend trying it out if you want to experience glamping to the max. Beautiful; the pictures and videos dont lie. I recommend splurging a bit more for the waterfront cabins. We took advantage of all the amenities; kayaking, cabana, game room, pool with hot tub, and small trail. The only downside is that the creek is a bit cloudy for my liking. And parts of the creek are bit deep so not great for people who cant swim. With that being said, I still plan to revisit. -

We had a great time! We were in a waterfront cabin and it was beautiful inside. 4 beds inside which were very comfortable. We didnt even need a cabana since we were soo close to the water. The location of this place is perfect, stores are not far only a 20min drive if you forget anything. -

What a great place! My husband and daughter & I enjoyed our 3 night, 4 day trip very much. The cabins over looking the river were so peaceful. It was such a fun quick trip getting out of the city. We kayaked, swam in the pool, and used the game hall almost everyday. We really enjoyed the fact that there was a bbq on the lanai area. The large fridge, and sink were a huge plus! We spent most our time catching up on reading and playing with our 2 year old! Highly recommend for a quick getaway ššššš hoping for some winter & summer specials -

I had a good time! The bathrooms were stocked and clean. The rooms worked out great and was clean. Loved that I was close to swimming pool and barhrooms. Great view. My husband is hoping you stock your pond. It was a little hard to fish with all the kayaking. I would like an outdoor after dark theatre. Thanks for the great adventure. We plan on coming back. -
Review 78 (2024-04-10 - Rating: 5)
Absolutely magical! We stayed in the glamping cabins and it was sooooo very worth it. All the joy of camping but it solved all the big problems.Pros: The beds were surprisingly comfy. The air conditioner worked well. The fridges were small but not uselessly small. The fire pit and grill outside our tent were lovely. The game room was fantastic. There were like 4 different hot tubs of okay-ish quality. The creek was PHENOMENAL. So very beautiful and the kayaks were really really fun and accessible. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. They gave us extra blankets and clean sheets with no problems. The hiking paths were also breathtaking. We really felt free to let the kids run around and enjoy the place, and enjoy ourselves as well.Con: The bathroom/shower trailer did smell just a bit latrine-ish. And the showers were pretty meh as far as water pressure, size, and consistency of temperature. But again, were camping and there are hot showers. Latrine smell isnt as bad as it mingles with the scent of my kids blue raspberry scented body wash... Im grateful they were available! Also, it would have been real nice to have a washer/dryer available. But thats a pretty small complaint. We absolutely loved it and hope to return in the future! -

We went here for our anniversary and were amazed by the beautiful location and room. It was the perfect ācabin in the woodsā and the property is gorgeous. Thereās kayaks, jacuzzis, a game room, bbq and fire pit, and lots of nature to explore! The waterfront cabin was gorgeous with an amazing view from the balcony and every amenity you can think of. The pricing is great too. Will be coming back! Totally recommend. Take salt and pepper with you though, we forgot to take salt with us š the kitchen has everything else though in terms of dishes/utensils/cookware. -

My family & I stayed in two of the birdhouse/waterfront cabins (The Sparrow #15 & The Titmouse #16). We had a GREAT time. Our cabins were super clean & the balconies added a nice effect. The beds arenāt super comfy, but itās glamping so we always temper our expectations in that regard. Our AC worked well in both cabins. At one point I was in there during peak heat hours & it was nice & cool. My older kids would pop in & comment on how nice the cool air was. These rooms definitely provided a welcome reprieve from the heat for all members of my family. The hot plate & pots and pans were a nice convenience but they arenāt for cooking large meals. I was still able to feed a relatively large group with them so that was really nice. Having a shower and separate bathroom was a must for us. We stayed at another Sonās camp site last year & some people donāt respect community spaces. My older kids popped in to one of the shared bathrooms and it was NASTY. The Sonās staff were out there often trying to keep up but it is a tall order for anyone. It was the same issue this year at this site. Just be mindful to either manage your expectations or pay the extra $$ for your own facilities. The cabins are right near the water or have really close river access, ours had stairs & a road access. We have some young, adventurous littles so we prefer to not have IMMEDIATE access to any body of water. So thatās why I chose these 2. Some of the others are slightly closer but again, we werenāt far from the water by any means.Everything on site is within walking distance & thereās a small āconvenienceā shop on site with a small number of ānecessitiesā.Our kiddos had a great time in the pool, kayaking, playing volleyball, & at the rec center. Itās so quiet at night & thatās so amazing because our kids slept great!I read some of the other comments complaining. MOST, not all, of the complaints in some of the lowest ratings were a combination of poor expectation management and failure to plan & research.Iāll address some. The issues with getting someone out to the tent were hit or miss. The first time we had an issue they got out to us right away (one of our littles insisted on having the TV working & as itās part of the room, we called to have them come out), my oldest also froze the AC when she tried to make it cool too fast when we first got in the room. They were at the cabins within 5 mins. The second time wasnāt so great. The battery in one of the doors died & it took them 2 phone calls & almost an hour wait to get us back into the room. When we called back the second time, the same girl acted like weād never spoken to her in the first place. That was upsetting but we did get back in the room. Aside from these two instances we didnāt need any other assistance.Yes, the cabins are tents. That information is provided on the website & itās obvious in the pictures. Iām not sure what the other people were expecting, youāre glamping not staying at a resort or hotel.Quiet hour is NICE. If you want to be loud all night, pick a place that lets you be loud all night. We picked this place because we want it quiet at night for our kids.Okay, about proximity to restaurants or stores or āactivities near byā, I found these humorous. When you pull the site up on Google Maps, you can clearly see itās out in the āmiddle of nowhereā. As such, youāre coming to a location that advertises itself as a camping/glamping site. Nowhere on the website does it offer any of these services. It is BYO-anything you think youāll need or want. Just do the research.I genuinely think research & expectation management would have resolved a lot of the negative comments but not all. Sometimes bad experiences happen but that was not, nor has it ever been, the case for us when we stay at Sonās. Pics courtesy of my jefita (my mom). -

Beautiful place to spend a few days, my only thing was even if you werenāt renting a cabin they let the public in and itās so congested with people you can barely get down the river. It would be nice if they didnāt rent to the public their tables so it would be less crowded for those who pay so much to stay. When we came there were a few loud and rowdy adult parties and really ruined the quiet time with their music and drinking/being wild. They do have a curfew they make the table renters leave by, but itās night by then. Other than that the place was nice and when it wasnāt loud with music and parties it was serene and nice. -

Sons Rio Cibolo was such a fun experience for our family. We visited in April, and it was our first time. The check in process was very easy. They send you a code to the door to your unit the morning of your stay. We stayed in the bird house cabins, and they were so awesome. They are definitely the way to go. Clean, temperature controlled, and had most of the amenities we needed. The things I wish theyād have had in each unit was disinfectant spray to use after cooking to clean off the counters and table, and it would have been nice to have a cutting board. We loved the cabanas and the kayaks, all of which are first come first served and donāt cost additional if youāre a guest there. We used the barbecues to grill up some meat and corn on the cob. Youāll need briquettes for that and lighter fluid. Also bring your own beach towels. Pretty much everything else was provided. The swimming pools and hot tubs were fun. They are on the small size, but our kids didnāt mind. We found a scorpion in our cabin and another cabin in our party found a cockroach. Iām sure they do pest control and it IS Texas, so I guess thatās to be expected to a certain degree. Having some Raid bug killer spray in each unit would also have been nice. All in all, we had a great time and would recommend it to friends. -

The area was absolutely beautiful! The roads and entire place are well maintained. We were there for a company event and rented two cabanas for the day. We were all very happy with the accommodations. The paddle boards and kayaks were perfect for the playing in the creek to cool off. The provided grills, table and furniture really added the best touch. -

Everything was excellent. We had great time together with our friends who rented the neighbor cabins. However, there are 2 tiny things I want to mention: first, despite the rules, one of the neighbors had pet in their cabin (cabin#18) that made us a little uncomfortable. The second one is that the stove was not as powerful as it should be. We had a hard time boiling water. I prefer the cabins to have a stronger stove as well as an electric kettle if possible. -

We rented a cabana for the day. The space was beautiful with lots of shade. Each Cabana had a fan, electricity, grills, and plenty of seating! The kayaks were older and we had to drain water from them, but they were lots of fun. We did see snakes but because of the website we were prepared and stayed clear of them. Overall this was a great experience, we had a blast and we would do it again! -

This place is so FUN! Plan a trip with your friends and family NOW. We had a big family get together over Labor Day weekend and it was just amazing. Thanks for a great time. -
Review 93 (2024-06-07 - Rating: 4)
We really enjoyed our stay! Ill start with the good stuff. We went for mothers day weekend and it felt very safe, it was clean and there were almost no bugs(mosquitos and flies) aside from lightening bugs. We stayed in the safari cabins and they were really cozy. It included a table, a TV with roku, microwave, small fridge a double hit plate and some cooking utensils, ac, a cubby a pull out couch and 4 queen beds including pillows, sheets and blankets. There is a nice porch, a fire put, a grill, a picnic table and a hammock. Everyone seemed to respect the quiet hours of 7-11pm. There was a green area for the kids to run and play and our cabin overlooked a beautiful property that had some cool livestock(bison, longhorn, a yak? watusi cattle..) and was surrounded by the most BEAUTIFUL pecan trees. You can just grab a kayak when visiting the creek and the cabanas were nice and right by the water. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. Now heres the not so good. The beds were pretty uncomfortable. The motion light on the porch was glaringly bright and intrusive. The river is actually what Im guessing is an improved creek full on with pumps. Its not a natural waterway. Maybe it was at one point, but its definitely been modified. Dont get me wrong, its still nice, just a lot smaller and artificial feeling than I expected. The worst part would have to be the bathroom situation. They have people come through and clean them and I can tell that theyre doing their best but those portapotty trailers get nasty FAST. The showers are also located in the portapotty trailer, next to the toilet. I truly hope they figure out something else regarding the restroom and shower set up....That said, well be back to visit and we made a lot of great memories at sons rio cibilo. -
Review 94 (2023-07-31 - Rating: 5)
This place is absolutely amazing on every level! The bird house was perfect! We had 4 people but 6 people could be in there comfortably! These ātentsā are very well insulated and the AC kept it very cold inside! Being able to sit out on our personal balcony at night and very early in the morning was so very relaxing and there we literally NO BUGS! We never saw and flies and not one bite from a mosquito.. no spiders, no NOTHING! I would actually like to know your secret to that! The houses are stocked with everything you need as far as dishes, pans, coffee pot and full size refrigerator! The only thing we needed that we didnāt have was a can opener! Access to the river was close and it was not over crowded! We brought our own floats but there is access to use of free kayaks and paddle boards. The only draw back with this is, since they are not reserved, a lot of families would get the kayaks and keep them tied up at their picnic area by the water even when they were not using them, they were not returning them so that other people could use them. Over all this place is a Gem! We will definitely be back again! We plan to make this a yearly trip! -

Amazing. This is our third sons glamping trip and we loved the water side cabins so much!! Paying a little extra is so worth it!! Roomy comfy clean!! The view is great. Just came home from spending 2 nights and experiencing New Yearās Eve. It was well worth it and our New Years tradition since last year at sons locations. The game room is great but you can tell unappreciative people have visited and destroy and ruin it for others. Basketball and volleyball courts with balls. Kayaking was awesome!!!The only thing I could ask for is for the jacuzzi to be much more heated I was so looking forward to enjoy them but when we explored and did a feel test it was luke warm. But there is so much more that that wouldnāt change my view on this establishment. Nice walk around the riverAlso great customer service. We had a foul smell coming from the sink we called the number provided and even with our call getting disconnected someone was sent out shortly to take care of our issue and let us point out what we seen that was broken so they knew we did not cause the issueThank you sons for the best glamping experience -

Our pictures do not do this beautiful experience we had justice. All four ofUs had an amazing time and we just checked out last night and already booking our next trip. We have made this our go to getaway for life. No More going to corpus or port A and spending a tremendous amount of money on gas, food and hotel. Sons is just 25 minutes out of San Antonio and the glamping cabin was pretty much $79 perCouple itās a no brainer. They pretty much supply everything. The only thing we needed was our baiting suits clothes and food to cook on the grill. Everything is a very short walking distance the game room that is open 24 hours the restrooms are right behind our cabin with a shower and the river is less than a 2 minutes walk. Just go! I can go on and on! Please experience this beautiful places for your self. Oh one thing before I go the staff is extremely helpful and welcoming. A man driver around making sure everyone is ok or needs help until 2am and 24 hour text number if you have questions. Thank you Sons Island Cibolo.-Raul -

We recently tried out Sonās Resorts Rio Cibolo for my daughters birthday celebration. We usually stay at Sonās Island but since itās currently closed we tried one of the other parks. We were very happy with our experience. My only fault with the location was staff was not readily available. You had to seek them out. Not a huge problem. Everything was a free for all, first come first serve which wasnāt necessarily a problem as it wasnāt a busy day so maybe things are different if/when itās packed. There were a lot of kayaks and paddle boards and oars just left drifting in the river with no one to gather them because people didnāt return them when they were done. I would also like to see a wider variety of life vests. We had a hard time finding sizes for the kids.Other than that, the park was clean, and the staff was friendly. We will definitely come back to check out the camping aspect. -
Review 102 (2024-05-01 - Rating: 5)
Great weekend camping getaway with enough comfort if you donāt want to really rough it. There are several cabin/tent accommodations to fit your group. We were a friend group of 4 that stayed in the Safari Cabins and it was very spacious. Linens and shower towels were included along with basic cooking utensils, a mini fridge, electric hot plate, and coffee maker, and microwave. There is no sink in this cabin, but there is a water spout and basin for washing dishes (soap and sponge were provided). Bring your own toiletries and shower shoes for the private bathroom/shower stations. They got wet and muddy as expected, but staff came by to clean and restock often enough. All of the accommodations were able to be driven and parked right next to for easy unloading, but a few of them had stairs to enter (safari and waterfront) just fyi. You can even drive straight up to the cabanas to drop off large items like coolers. We brought our truck since itās not smooth terrain, itās of course mostly dirt and gravel and rocky, but I think a sedan would handle it just fine. Your cabin neighbors are pretty close, and some seem to not be able to control their car alarms in the middle of the night so you might need some earplugs. We payed for early check in so were able to enjoy the grounds and amenities for several hours even before our cabin was ready, including kayaking/paddle-boards at the river and the complementary waterside cabanas(first come first serve but there were plenty available). Bring charcoal for the grills, and firewood for the fire-pits (we were worried how to dispose of these but staff disposed of the charcoal and wood for us!). I do wish that the kayaks were managed a little better but I donāt know how they would do it without seeming too strict. It seemed like as the day went on the kayaks and paddle-boards scattered throughout the river and you just had to find and hop on whatever was available, but some groups seemed to tie up and save them and wouldnāt let you use it even if they werenāt currently using them either. You can buy ice on site if needed as well as a few other things in the check in office. I think I remember seeing bug spray and lighter fluid. There was also a drink vending machine in the game room.Overall a wonderful stay even if was a bit cold and rainy when we went. Didnāt get to try out the pools because of this. Would come back, or perhaps try out one their sister sites! -

Our first time at Sonās Rio Cibolo during spring break. We were a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids 5 & 13) who all fit nicely in the glamping tent. Plenty of fun around the campground we all had so much fun. I loved that everything was included in the booking price. We went to hikes daily, kayaking daily, played in the gameroom daily and enjoyed cooking all our meals outside. The kids loved the pool & hot tub (was too cold for me to put a swimsuit on lol). The tents are close to the pool & gameroom. Loved that we had our own fire pit & grill. Our friends stayed one tent down (4 people in their tent) & we all had a blast. Already planning to return next Spring Break! -

I loved the safari cabin. It was great having our own fire pit, grill, hammock, and outdoor furniture. Showers were hot. We enjoyed fishing, hiking, and the pool during the day and had movie nights in our cabin. Wifi is super fast. Went during off-season so there were not many people there. Felt the cabins were a little too close to each other. Planes passing too much. Once I noticed it, it seemed to happen every hour, if not more. Didnt catch anything we could keep. Lots of No Parking signs, so plan to walk from your cabin/tent with all equipment to fish. The arcade is a billiard hall. Seems like theyvare still improving the atmosphere there and would love to check it out once the lake is finished. Overall, we would go back for a quick weekend trip. -

We had so much fun. I think we found our summer vacation spot! Thereās so much to do. We loved the kayaks. We took 2- 5 year olds and they never complained. We will probably get the treehouse next year just for the convenience of the restroom and shower for the young ones. It was hot outside but the cabins stay cool. The restrooms were cleaned often. Great place to take a family, young and old. -

Went here on a Vacation from Ohio, I would highly recommend and do plan to return some day for a longer experience. My children loved this place and all the activities they have to offer. From kayaking, swimming in the river and the swimming pools, their floating docks, hot pools, volley ball and walking the property were all pleasant. Although we didnt get to experience the cabin and overnight stays I definitely look forward to on my next visit. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful give you some peace and tranquility while there. The cabanas we very nice, kept us shaded had a nice bar for our food along with plenty of seating and a hammock to lay in. They provide grills for your food, had very nice portable restrooms that were very clean with a sink and shower as well. Finally for safety they provide life vests which is a big plus in my book especially if you worry for your little ones in deep waters. -

Stayed in one of the glamping tents for a weekend and it was great! Very cozy and comfortable beds. My only complaint was that the showers didnt have working hot water, which in the summer is probably fine, but I was here in December and while it wasnt that cold, a hot shower would have been nice. Still it was an overall good experience and I would stay here again. -

Excellent little weekend getaway by myself! No hassle arrival and my cabin was very clean and had everything that I needed! My DVD remote didnt have batteries, but when I called the number provided, they were at my cabin within 5 minutes to hook me up. This is just what I needed. Thank you so much for providing a space for me to get a little R&R. Ill definitely be back with my family! -

You cant park by the cabanas anymore but the lot isnt too far of a walk. Can stillset up and then park. Would love to see them add more changing stations by the cabanas and a couple more shower trailers. Still a great place to spend the day with the family. -

I wanted to plan a summer trip for my family (12 people total). I saw someone post this place on Facebook so thought I would give it a try. I am so happy with my decision this place was the best! We all had such a blast including our 2 year old twins, 1 year old niece and 6 year old cousin! Such a large variety of things to do. Spent the day on the river kayaking and paddle boarding under a very nice cabana. Went up to check into our very beautiful and comfortable tent. We all swam at the pool, played volleyball, basketball and hit up the fun game room. So fun for all the ages that were in our party and 100% making this an annual trip. Staff is so nice and property is kept super clean plus very comfortable sleeping! 10/10 recommend!!! -

We had such a fantastic time here celebrating our daughters birthday. The birdhouse cabins were nice and clean. We had a great time in the pools, hot tubs and the gameroom was great for the kids. The canoeing was so therapeutic. Loved our stay here...and not to mention it was literally about 15 minutes from our home in San Antonio. Thanks for the amazing memories! -

We enjoyed staying here SO much. I think we came on a slower weekend, as there was not many people, but we loved literally everything offered and the kayaking/nature reserve/walking trails were so much fun. We are already planning to come back and bring the whole family next summer! The night/grounds manager was amazing, as well. There was an incident at the cabin next to us and he came and personally apologized for it and was so kind. Honestly canāt say enough good things about our stay! -

I have visited each Sons property and this one is great for families with kids of all ages. Ill definitely go again.Property review: The creek is deep and wide enough to kayak or paddleboard but has shallow areas for kids as well. They also have pools at this location which is nice. I didnt check out the clubhouse but if youre staying multiple days that gives you more to do (shuffleboard, ping pong, cornhole, etc). I really like that the tree growth means plenty of shade on the water. The cabanas are all close to the water so even if you get there late you can find a great spot. Its a beautiful spot and the property looks great. I didnt stay overnight but the cabins had AC so Id definitely consider it. Each cabana has a grill and they were in great shape. The hammocks were a nice touch as well.Service review: Ive had great service and friendly staff at each location, nothing to complain about. They even came around to see if we needed anything, but even if they didnt there is always someone close by. Much of the staff are younger, but you can tell they enjoy their job and they have a great attitude!Overall: Sons has become a family tradition for us, well go to this or one of their other properties every year. Great value and always a good time! -

Cabanas next to the river, kayaks, yurts, fishing, pools, jacuzzi, barbcue pits, nature trail. Had a great time with the family. The river is sectioned off from the rest, so its less crowded. Basketball court, Frisbee golf, hammocks everywhere. Staff very helpful bathrooms have showers, and handicapped access bathrooms a cabins. -

My 3rd stay with Sons getaways. As far as the activities this one has had the most offerings, and is a great spot for glamping. If staying in the glamping Cabins, the restrooms are a little bit of a walk but nothing thatās too bad. The water in this area has been my least favorite as far as accessibility and availability to go around. Besides that itās a great place to glamp. I wish they allowed dogs though. -

Took my 12 year old son here for the first time in March and we loved it! Loved it so much we are going again in May :) I really appreciate that they provide kayaks, life vest, paddle boards etc., to be used by all guests. Definitely excited for May to get here to go again and hoping that it is still just as great as the first time because I would love to add this place as a permanent little vacation get a way.Update 2024:This is definitely a permanent vacation spot for us! This time we stayed in the river front cabins and let me just sayā¦ what a luxury! We were a little disappointed with the game room this time around due to the pool table having a rip and missing balls. But nonetheless we enjoyed the pool area and of course the river. Hated leaving this place but definitely looking forward to booking again :) -

We rented the safari tent for a night over the weekend. The tent comfortably fit a party of 7 and was very clean when we arrived. The AC was struggling a bit to keep it cool, but we put the provided fan below it and that made things much better. It is a tent so do not expect much, (no sink, private bathroom, or basic cookware such as frying pans, plates, etc.) There is a double zipper door that locks and if your ok with RV bathrooms there are some behind/in front of the tents. All together it was good, cold night with a busy morning cleaning everything before we left. -

The wife and I took a quick staycation out to Sons Rio Cibolo. Though it was a little bit of a drive (we live north of Austin), it wasnt too bad. There was some confusion, lack of clarity from signs, on what the check-in procedure is and where to do it, but we found an employee who helped us out quickly.Overall our stay was very nice and we plan to go back, as a couple and also with family and friends. We stayed in a tree top cabin overlooking the river. The cabins are very impressive, seem well built and are very comfortable. We enjoyed the deck space, flexibility of opening up the tent wall for fresh air and sound of rain during our stay. And since they supply a kitchen with pans, plates, and utensils it was nice to not have to pack everything needed. We brought food from a grocery store with us since theres no food options nearby, and were able to enjoy a nice steak meal and hot breakfast in the cabin. Keep in mind though that cooking with their provided stovetop is only allowed outside per their signs. My guess is its a fire hazard, but its an electric burner, not gas/propane. Regardless, if the weather seems potentially bad for your trip and you dont plan on grilling outside underneath the cabin, you will need to plan on cooking outside on the covered deck with an electric burner. As for the pool area, it was very nicely laid out for families to enjoy, but with the hot tubs/saunas immediately adjacent, dont expect a quiet time to relax and talk if thats what youre aiming for. We went in the middle of the week during the school year, and didnt have much company. It rained during our stay, which was not expected, but the tent-style cabin meant you could hear and smell the rain and made it relaxing. However, this did make the river quite murky the following day due to the run-off and so we chose not to go swimming in the river like we originally planned. We still walked down and enjoyed the cabanas in the cool morning shade, and walked up/down the riverside enjoying the place.Overall, would highly recommend and hope you enjoy it as much as we did. -

The rooms were clean. I payed for early check in but lady who cleans still wasnāt done only because my early check in wasnāt coming out in her end. She was still nice about it and asked for 10 minutes which i had no problem with. the location is quiet and thereās many things to do. we went kayaking so many times. got in the clean pools/hot tubs as well. the only thing i wish was different were the restroom trailers. they were dirty and showers were filled with other guests hair. I came prepared with toilet seat covers and other stuff since i knew we were gonna share bathrooms w other guest but they couldāve been cleaner imo. paper towels werenāt in the dispenser, just left outside on top of it. i still enjoyed this place so much, i miss it already and canāt wait to go back. -

My family of 5 at the last minute booked a trip to Rio Cibolo. We had a riverside cabin with 2 queen beds and 2 singles. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Beds were not my favorite in terms of comfort, but still ok. The only reason I listed service at a 3 is simply that we didnt know where or how to get anything. The room had 4 towels (for 5 of us) for 3 nights. Toliet paper was another thing we had no idea how to get. Outside of that, the pools were good, and the 4 hot tubs all had a little different temp, which was ok with me. We used a cabana 1 day, which comes with electricity and a grill. Overall, we are looking to book again later into summer. -

I love this location. Nice and relaxing atmosphere. You can play your own music as long as you do not disturb anyone, cabanas with grill, chairs, tables and a fan. The only thing I feel they need to improve is the kayaks. Staff doesnt take good care of the kayaks and they can be seen upside down in the river and full of water. Missing or broken paddles etc. Overall, a great experience. Looking forward to visiting and staying there with my family. -
Review 133 (2023-10-01 - Rating: 4)
The birdhouse was gorgeous and comfortable, but you do have to clean up before leaving to avoid an extra fee. the river is not a natural flowing river so I donāt recommend going for a dip. Amenities include swimming pools, a game room, volleyball, and basketball court which added some entertainment. hammocks werenāt functional. mostly a place to chill by water, barbecue, and drink. Beautiful view at night. -

Awesome spot. We did go on a day it happen to be raining, but luckily the morning after , the weather had cleared up and were able to go kayaking. Over all loved the location. Really secluded and went at a great time of the year. Wouldve loved to do more, but due to bad weather, we kinda hung around inside our birdnest which was such a luxury style of camping. Definitely felt like a king inside one of them. Lol thank you staff at rio son cibolo, for making sure us feel welcomed at yalls resort. Definitely want to come back on a drier day! -

We have been twice so far and we had a blast. I have toddlers and older kids and they all had fun. The cabanas have running water, electricity, comfortable seating, and a BBQ pit. There are portapotties conveniently located close to the cabanas and they are honestly the cleanest Ive ever seen. Staff was friendly and helpful. There are kayaks and paddleboards which my kids loved and we took our own floats as well. -

Well deserved rating! Our visit and stay was not only fun but very comfortable. The property is very well taken care off, you can see the constant upkeeping, and feels very safe. The staff is all very friendly and helpful. After the tent we reserved had perhaps a faulty a/c, the manager/employee quickly and hassel free helped us and more than just resolved our issue. What could have been a real bad experience was saved by a willing and empathetic employee! She truly went above and beyond to resolve the matter. The tent house we stayed in was ideal and just what true glamping should be like. The amenities were enough and well thought off. The river was relaxing, very kid friendly and the cabanas were spacious comfortable and with excellent seating options for the whole family. We couldnt be more satisfied with the property and our time there. -

We had the treehouse rooms and they are amazing. They have everything we needed and plenty of space for our family. The patio was my favorite. Rooms come with everything you need. The amenities are what makes this location one of the best. There is a family game room, a swimming pool and hot tubs on site. You also have the river itself with Cabanas equipped with bbq pits and seating. The launch pads in the water are spaced out and they have canoes! The only down side is the natural water itself it is not fast moving. It barely moves and is darker than their other locations. It makes the water look thick and dirty for swimming. -

We spent a wonderful day at Sons Rio Cibolo with friends on Fathers Day. It was a great place to beat the Texas heat! The staff was organized and explained everything up front. We checked out all the day sites and found all to be clean and well appointed with a large cabana with a ceiling fan, *plenty* of seating, a bar area with electricity, a hammock, grill, and a large trashcan. We rented paddleboards and had fun exploring the river. All in all a GREAT experience at Sons Rio Cibolo. I highly recommend it! -

Everything was amazing during our stay. We had such a great time overall. We loved that nothing closes throughout the night and was able to swim and play games all night long. Sons of Rio is so clean & the employee we saw was very helpful. All of the cabanas are close & convenient to the river & there were lots of rafts to go around. We stayed in cabin #10. Very clean & everything u need for an overnight stay. One drawback were the beds. All 4 of the mattresses need to be replaced. They dipped & were not comfortable. Used the grill & the firepit. Loved them. It would be nice when u reserved a cabana that u could choose what # you want. The game room was great. -

Review 147 (2023-11-01 - Rating: 4)
I really loved my stay and the amenities they have here. The only thing that I had an issue with having only one lock to tent, which was not completely secured since someone could easily unzip the other side for entry. Also the code would not work. I called to ask if the code was correct and to get some help, they said they sent someone out to check it and it was taken care of, when we got back from the pool it was not fixed and we found out they gave us the complete wrong code for the lock by trying different numbers around ourselves. It was inconvenient to have to figure out and put some of our items in our car to lock away and somewhat of a concern since it was an all girls stay and I would have liked to lock it at night. -

We really enjoyed our family glamping trip for Thanksgiving here! On our weekday arrival it seemed we had the place to ourselves and towards the end of the week it got much fuller, but still felt like it wasnt packed with people. All of the amenities were perfect and as described on the website. For such gloomy weather we were still able to enjoy use of the kayaks and hiking the grounds. At night we got a chance to enjoy the game rooms and hot tubs before heading back to our site for a nice time around the fire pit. The grounds were nicely kept and the whole place was just a great getaway. Well be back soon! -

Our favorite vacation so far this year! Itās a gorgeous place to retreat to and get away from everything. They have well thought out amenities that made us feel it was designed for a family like ours! Our cabin had 4 beds (so our kids didnāt fight over who had to share a bed), a FULL fridge so we didnāt have to worry about keeping things in a cooler, a game room that our kids obsessed over, and plenty of grill options - patio grill, indoor griddle, downstairs grill, fire pit for sāmores, and cabana grill - my husband was in grill heaven.
