    In a drought ridden summer devoid of any long floating trips, Happy Hollow provides a happy remedy indeed. Cute, fun, family friendly place. This section of the Frio is spring fed and is not dry. A great place to float, sit in the river with friends, relax and play. Parking on both sides of Hwy 83. Convenience store, souvenirs, etc. There are vacation accommodations on site above river. Friendly, helpful staff. Price was about $15/person if just visiting to swim and float. (July 2022) Would definitely visit again!!

    Happy Hollow is a great place to start your float at the Frio river in Concan, Texas. Very friendly people with plenty of items in the store. Rates are reasonable. They will shuttle you to the departure point and you float back to the starting point at their store. It’s about a two hour float if you don’t stop.

    We loved our day spent at Happy Hollow! The water was clear, cool & beautiful! our kids (ages 7, 12, & 16) loved floating, swimming and jumping off of the rocks into the water! Melissa and her staff were so helpful, informative and kind. It was our 1st time to the Frio River and we will definitely be back again to Happy Hollow! The water wasnt high enough to tube down the river without walking most of the way this year due to a drought. Melissa at Happy Hollow was upfront and honest about our options and I am so glad we took her advice! We had the BEST time! Thank you Melissa!

    We have been here several times over the last 15 or so years. This place is always great, the people are always friendly. We had to do almost as much walking as we did floating, but we had fun as always.

    (July 2022) after encountering a over occupancy state park we thought all was lost. I turn to google for answers. As i dove deeper into an answer parked outside said state park i stumbled upon a post about river access and $15 .HENCE began my experience with this amazing establishment. Not only did they have a very clean and well thought out layout but they are by far the most respectful and family orientated river outfitter staff i have ever encountered. Biggest perk is that they have rugged brand items at a non inflated price. I hate purchasing off brand items in other locations and the items only lasting me one trip. Over all the river access is what i wanted . I’m glad i didn’t go to the state park this year things happen for a reason. The best part of trips is the spontaneous change of plans that you have no idea where they will end. This spot is a must try and make sure to drop some money in the college fund. Thank you happy hollow for making another memory for my family possible

    I have been staying here every summer for the past 15 year. It is always the perfect get away with family and Friends. The river is gorgeous and always crystal clear!! I plan to keep coming here for years to come!!!

    This was our first time here and we had a great time. The staff was friendly & helpful. The bus dropped us off at the beginning while the desk held onto our car keys for free so we wouldn’t lost them (that’s optional). It took a couple of hours to float back and it was very relaxing! The prices are reasonable, $12 per person which includes the tube rental & bus ride. We’ll definitely be back!

    Floated other areas of the river this trip, lots of walking on most. Happy hollow route was the our favorite and most comfortable by far. My daughter caught a butterfly at the beginning of the float and apparently it’s our new pet.

    It was my first time floating on the river and they were so helpful at the front desk. They explained everything to me and had anything you could need for the float. Wonderful, 100% recommend, Im DEFINITELY going back to them the next I come to float!

    BEST place to stay on the Frio ! We come here every year . The swimming hole is deep enough and it’s the perfect chill place on the river . Plus Happy Hallow also provides shuttle services so you can tube .

    Happy Hollow was our kindergarten and second graders first time floating the river.The owner was nice enough to let us know ahead of time that the river was lower than typical and we would have to walk close to 60% of the time. I was thankful to have that information ahead of time to help set the expectation with our younger kiddos.We had a blast!Walking, even 60% of the time, was still a fun experience!

    Right now the water is so low, they advise against doing the float unless you absolutely want to so full respect for them saying so. If you want to hit the Frio, just do the day swim pass and hang out for a few hours. Wonderful experience!

    We stayed here for the eclipse. Book the OG house if you can. It has the most fantastic deck ever and is truly restful. Bring with you potable water. We hadnt realized that you cant drink the water coming out of the traps before we got there. I enjoyed tubing in April but it was a little cold to be doing so! There was quite a bit of walking involved, so I worry what it would be like if there isnt rain in the near future.

    Best place to rent tube. Everyone is so nice, and the have weekly rates that will save you tons in the long run. Did multiple river trips a day and enjoyed every second of it!!!

    The Best service of all tubing places in Concan! They will even open up and set you up with tubes and the shuttle when they arent present at the store! If you call them they will get there shortly. We have been going to all kind of different tubing places but after having found these people we stayed with them and have done so for years!!!Today April 4th 2024 we had a blast even though we had to walk in a few spots as the river is low. It was still really really awesome and we had the river all to ourselves ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

    This place has everything you need to enjoy tubing down the river. I went on July 3rd. The water level was extremely low. There were multiple places where you had to walk. However, the water was crystal clear, and the temperature was nice, keeping you cool. Great summer activity.

    Great one-stop-shop for any and everything you need to spend time on the Frio River. We visited this spot a couple of years ago when the river was running, and it was a fantastic time. The shuttle takes you up the river a ways and then to float back down to Happy Hollow. We went on July 9th, 2022 and the river isn’t running, but we were still able to enjoy the deep water behind the shop and had a great time in the river. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

    Happy Hollow was a great experience! The staff are knowledgeable and super helpful. We went on a holiday weekend that was super busy but we didnt have to wait too long in line or to get on the bus. Things move quickly even though theres lots of people. When we were getting out, I even had someone come and take the tubes from me so I didnt have to drag them up the hill. It was a good price for the experience we had!

    Me and group of friends stayed in the cabins at Happy Hollow . The folks running the place are top notch and will do anything to make your staycomfortable. The cabins were clean and well appointed ... they even have direct TV !! The river was down due to lack of rain but it was just nice to sit in a chair and enjoy the cool breeze . The store had pretty much everything we needed and the prices are reasonable . If you stay here you will definitely enjoy yourself .

    Awesome place for any first timers at the Frío river. The young lady at the front desk was so helpful and welcoming for my family’s first time tubing together. The water levels were a bit low but right now this is the best tubing run in the frío river HOWEVER please be advised if you have small children or people who can’t swim too well, at the end of the run before you reach happy hollow again there’s a stretch of river that’s very slow moving and really deep so you have to paddle a bit but there’s no way you can get off your tube and reach the bottom. My family and I were okay but we did struggle a bit because of what we were carrying in the water and we would just like to warn other families since we didn’t know that would be there and a heads up to not get off your tube or some depth markers on their property would’ve been nice since they have so many other signs up about private property and such. Apart from that, we forgot some clothes we changed out of in the restroom and when we passed by the next day to ask about our items they were already dried and set outside on top of a rock. No one took our stuff and we were so grateful and thankful for this place. Awesome, friendly and fun experience all thanks to Happy Hollow!

    Worth the stop to float the Frio River! As a family of 3 we spent close to $43. Pass for 3 on the frio $10 each, pass for the shuttle, parking and rent out 3 inter tubes. It was our first time to explore and we enjoyed every bit. Although water levels was low we still did enjoyed and had fun on this stay. Thanks for our experience!!

    Super friendly and helpful. The water was low and they told us exactly what to expect. We had a great time floating down the river in our rented Kayaks. We will be back next year on a weekend when the water is higher so we can experience a full float. Thanks!

    Awesome tube experience! Cost us just under $40 for three people. Including tubes, one way shuttle service and parking. Float just under 3 hours. Very relaxing. Not nearly as many partyers as the other floats. The other locations the water moves faster which is a bonus to me, but once youre out you have to wait on the shuttle back to your vehicle.

    We really enjoyed staying here last year. The staff was really great! The one downer is the new cabins have one bedroom taken up with bunk beds, instead of another adult sized bed. This room went empty, as we were unable to find any friends wanting to occupy bunk beds. We are planning on staying again in a couple of weeks & looking very forward to it. However, once again, no takers on those bunk beds.

    Recent rains have created a fantastic FRIO River float and Happy Hollow is by far the best and most organized outfitter. Highly recommended floating experience and lodging! I love the guest wristbands that allow unlimited shuttles throughout our stay. It makes it so easy and made our stay so much more relaxing:)

    Has any last minute things you might need and the employees are very helpful. The cabins right next store are super convenient. If youre staying there you have a private entrance to the river and perks on getting shuttle rides to the start of the river later in the day then regular tourists.

    We rented 7 tubes for 5 floaters. We followed the bus to the drop off spot because myself and sister were going to hang there with our 8mth nephew while his family floated. Once they were done I picked up his mom and came back to the drop off stop to pickup other car and baby/other sister. We decided wed hang out at happy hollow, but once we tried to enter the security guard told us people had to float to be allowed to swim there. You couldnt just rent the tubes and swim. We pointed out two of us stayed with the baby at drop off location while his mother, father, brother, grandma, and uncle floated. They were all in the water as we were speaking. He proceeded to ask if we had wristbands, which we did. I didnt want to argue, so we dropped off tubes and left to swim elsewhere. Its a convenient location and they they have a shuttle to drop off/pick up. Idk about prices since I wasnt the one who paid. Parking is small so they send you across the street to park. I took off one star and gave it to my nephew!

    Really wonderful people. While floating the Frio my gf had a medical emergency while we were near here. An ambulance had to be called and I dont know what I would have done without them. They helped me get her from the river to the ambulance, helped me locate the rest of my friends on the river, helped me keep track of my gfs condition, and let me hang out with them while I was waiting to be picked up. They were so friendly and hospitable and I wasnt even a customer! I hope Im able to go back soon to rent tubes from them and even stay at one of their rental locations!
