Let me get the bad news out of the way first: There is none!Been vacationing for years, and this was one of the best kept properties weve ever stayed in. Everything was like new. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well-appointed. We chose this place for its proximity to the beach and it did not disappoint. Steps away.Coming down to the coast from Dallas during August we found the top temps 15 degrees below our sweltering 106. Even in the barely 90 degree temps, the deck is nice and shady and comfy in the breeze. Better yet is a magnificently air-conditioned house! No complaints in the cool comfortable house.The 24 steps from the ground seemed a little daunting at first, but we quickly got used to that. I only bring it up so that someone who is not ready for that is warned.Plenty of parking including some shaded parking underneath the house.Wonderful wooden furniture on deck and ground level. We loved having the shower downstairs and there is a great hose for washing yourself or anything else. Especially liked having the foot washer faucet at the base of the stairs. Very convenient.Last thing I wanted to review are the owners themselves. They take pride in their property and it shows and is well-deserved. We had some special requests that they graciously handled for us. Wonderful people who really want you to have an enjoyable care-free stay!Thank you Josh and Amanda.

Our 3 days here were fabulous! The home is spacious, extremely well equipped for a large group, situated right on the Gulf with easy beach access to lots of beachfront. The decor is welcoming and comfortable. The kitchen has quality appliances, cookware and lots of seating. We highly recommend this rental.

5/5 Stars - Perfect Family Getaway!We just returned from an incredible week-long stay at this stunning beach house, and we cant recommend it enough! Our entire family gathered here, and it exceeded all our expectations.The views of the beach are simply breathtaking. Waking up each morning to the serene waters and spending evenings watching the sunset over the waves was truly unforgettable.The house itself is spacious and perfectly appointed for large families or groups. The layout allowed everyone to spread out and relax, with plenty of room for sleeping, eating, and dining together. The amenities were top-notch, making our stay comfortable and convenient.What truly made our stay special was the tranquil atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. We spent our days swimming and enjoying quality time together. The beach house became our own private oasis, where we created lifelong memories.We highly recommend this beach front beach house to anyone seeking a relaxing retreat with loved ones. The Purple Pelican was an amazing beach condo! I had a large group of friends, wanting a condo right on the water. One of them had heard of the Purple Pelican… I called and made reservations. Well, my friends, and I loved staying there! The owners provided everything we needed and even had an outdoor shower to wash off the sand. It had plenty of room for all of us to sleep and was beautifully decorated. We were only steps away from the beach, and the balcony area was a fabulous place to gather while watching the sunset. This may become an annual event!

Great set up for our girls weekend before and after our 40th HS Reunion. This property is right on the beach with a nice walking path for super easy access. The deck has both shady and full sun areas and of course wonderful wide open views. Hosts are very responsive and helpful. It is a huge plus that linens are not only provided but all the beds are made prior to arrival - this is not the case with most rentals in the area. Will definitely rent this property again!

Our family and friends really enjoyed our stay at the Purple Pelican. The views were just what we needed to be perched above the endless waves lapping the Gulf. Sunrises were stellar and we collected some of the largest shells with a short walk of the dog. I used the dog waste bags to hold them all since my pockets were beyond capacity. The house is beautiful and comfortable. This is not your minimalist Airbnb it is well decorated and supplied to really feel like you are in an amazing place… and you truly are. We fell right in with three adult families, the kids dominated the loft upstairs and had so much fun connecting their game consoles to the televisions and playing games in each of the themed rooms. The kitchen was more than adequate for our needs and we hope the cleaning staff who did a great job for us were able to use the food we left behind. The door lock was easy and we felt safe with the protocols they had for changing the door codes. My only complaint was the time was to short (3 days) to spend with family and friends. We have already booked a follow up, during the off season, with a longer stay.

We had an amazing time staying at the Purple Pelican. It had everything you could ask for in a beach house. Spacious, comfortable big beds, ocean view, big kitchen, Smart TVs in every room, lots of space to enjoy below the cabin, and everything is well maintained and in great shape. Our family loved this place and we will definitely plan another vacation here. Thank you to Amanda and Josh for being such great hosts and allowing us to enjoy their beautiful beach home.

Beutiful House! So spacious for a family of 10+ ! It has all the essentials that you need in the kitchen. Its a perfect place for you to enjoy the sunrise and sunset on the balcony. We all love it there ! Will definitely come back again on our next vacation !!!!

Our ladies group stayed in the Purple Pelican for our Ladies Retreat and had so much fun! Josh and Amanda were fantastic, always checking in to make sure things were going well and we didn’t need anything. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed for a successful weekend on the beach! Will definitely use them again!

This was our first experience ever staying on the Texas coast at Bolivar Peninsula and this Beach house was just Amazing!!! We were very comfortable and couldn’t be happier about the close proximity of the beach. The beach house was super clean and I can’t think of anything else they could’ve provided for our stay. The Hosts were extremely attentive and the communication when needed with them was nothing short of excellent. This is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking to book a vacation in this area. The beach house is so spacious and decorated beautifully. The open floor plan and vaulted ceilings made for a very cozy and relaxing setting! My family and I just don’t have enough great things to say about this beach house. Bolivar Purple Pelican is our official “go to” from now on!!! We can’t wait until our next visit.

We loved everything about this property. The location was perfect for us, and our family, which included 4 couples, a three-year-old, a one year, old, and young adults. The rooms were spacious & the beds were all very comfortable. We all loved the big loft upstairs where all the younger kids slept. It even had a bathroom which was awesome! The room that we stayed in was perfect for my family. Our 1 yr old slept in a little nook of the room in a pack n play that came with the house. Every room came equipped with sound machines, lots of charging stations, and the rooms were always nice & cool after a day at the beach. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need to cook a meal. My favorite was the Vitamix! We brought it downstairs one night and enjoyed piña colada’s while listening to the waves. We loved the outdoor shower as well. Another favorite was all of the access to a water hose around the house! One at the foot of the stairs, and one at the front door upstairs. The owners were always available by text and they made sure to check in throughout our stay. They also went the extra mile to create an awesome online guidebook that had everything you could possibly need to know about the property and area recommendations. This house was truly amazing. They utilized the space so well and truly thought of everything! We will definitely be rebooking.

This home was perfect for our large family. There was plenty of space for us to spread out. The kitchen had all the amenities we needed to make meal time easy. The kids enjoyed playing at the beach and enjoyed lots of fishing. Can’t wait to come back again.

Perfect place for a college reunion, or a large family get-together. Comfortable beds, beautiful scenery. Lot of beds, and plenty of room to hang out with the guys, or get off by yourself in one of the private rooms, if you just need to relax away from the crowd. Whether you are hanging outat the picnic tables, under the deck, on the balcony, in the house, or of course on the beach. Plenty of room to gather. The outdoor shower is a plus for washing off the salt and sand of the ocean. Josh and Amanda are the perfect hosts! Love the way you have put this place together. Best on the beach!

Amazing get away!! The house is gorgeous and wonderfully set up for a family beach vacation. We had the best time seashell hunting -- so many cool shells! Excellent hosts. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience here in October. It is definitely worth a visit. The rooms are very clean and the view is excellent.
