Chris Reyes really took on the role as teacher throughout this process. I was a first time home buyer and literally knew next to nothing about home purchasing. The whole home buying process can be VERY confusing and convoluted but Chris walked me through everything (since day one). Throughout the process, I would text Chris questions that came to mind and within the same day, he would either call or text back. This was huge for me. I was in conversation with another lender (shopping around of course!) but they were not responsive and they were pushy, but Chris would lay out the loan offer and encouraged me to make the best decision for myself.Right before closing, Chris talked me through ALL of the paperwork and answered EVERY question or misunderstanding that I had. It took about 45 minutes to 1 hour to do but Chris had patience and was very clear. He even encouraged me to text him during close if questions arose. When I finally made it to close, I had seen EVERY paper ahead of time; there were no surprises.Honestly, between my realtor and Chris, I had the dream team to assist me with home purchasing. We started with Lender company that sounded very intrigue, so we went with it!. 2 weeks later & couldn’t get a approval letter! It was getting me very upset & let down.. Without Chris and his team, I wouldnt have been able to purchase my second {dream} home.As this was my second time purchasing, I sort of knew what to expect. However, I went the traditional route the first time. This time, I chose a new construction home. I dont need to tell you that regardless of the route you choose, there are many variables and many things to consider. One of the things I regretted the first time around was not using a local lender. If youre a first-time buyer living in Houston or the surrounding areas, you will come to appreciate working with someone whos in the same city in addition to being knowledgeable about the market. Its not required, but trust me, it does help! I also appreciate the fact that Chris makes himself available outside of normal business hours (dont call me after 5 p.m. or on the weekends, but you can certainly call Chris if you need to. LOL)! Thats a plus if youre not as familiar with the mortgage loan process.Although there are no guarantees with any mortgage loan, if your paperwork is in order and you submit all of the requested documentation, you can expect things to go more smoothly. Chris was very transparent about the process and didnt try to oversell his ability to get things done. I was actually working with another lender and the process was a nightmare. The requirements were constantly changing, communication was severely lacking and they sat on my file for close to two months when I made it clear I wanted to be in my new home in October. Needless to say, I was a bit on edge by the time Chris stepped in. However, after a long conversation, I decided to move forward and Im very glad I did because about a month later, I was holding my keys...and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon (my favorite!) courtesy of Chris, who dropped by the closing to say hello.If youre in looking for a reputable lender, give Chris a call. I give him and the folks over at PrimeLending my highest recommendation.Happy house hunting!
