    Fantastic experience using Built Green. The building program offered allows the home owner to act as the General Contractor which places the home owner in direct control of all aspects of the build process. My wife and I quickly became comfortable with acting as the General Contractor by attending the seminars offered by Built Green at active home construction sites to learn the process, and to meet the various trades. Additionally, we had several consultations where all of our questions were answered and concerns/fears alleviated. In using Built Green we were able to build our “forever” home taking advantage of the following benefits: review/evaluate all bids, unlimited selection options, we made several adjustments during the build which were painless, and we were able to upgrade certain elements (2x6 exterior framing, spray foam insulation, tankless water heater, water softener, generator, extra site fill dirt for flood prevention, other upgrades to home for hurricane wind protection) without a steep markup or change order. All trades we worked with in the build process were professional and experienced with the type of customers in the Built Green program. Throughout the 11 month build process I’d estimate that I spent 4-8 hours/week in making selections, meeting with contractors (off-site and on-site), and time at the site overseeing activities or making sure the site is clean. Throughout the process Bryson was always available by text, phone, or email. Would definitely use Built Green again in the future should another opportunity present itself.

    Bryson and The Entire Built Green Team were amazing to work with. As scary as it is to build a custom home for the first time, Built Green made us feel comfortable the entire way. The great thing about the build process with Built Green was when we had any question or concern, they always picked up there phone and were there to help which was super important to us. I also have to say that every contractor we worked with became family to us and put there heart and soul into our home. They literally turned Our Dream Into Reality!!     As a custom home designer, I have worked with Built Green Custom Homes for over 12 years and have seen their processes personally. The services they provide for their customers are unlike any builder I work with. One of the areas that they shine is providing accurate construction pricing for their clients. They provide estimated pricing at the beginning of the design process, in the middle of the design phase and at the end with vendor specific bids. Of all the builders I work with, this process is managed better and more precisely than anyone. When my design clients contact and do not have a builder on board, I will always recommend they set an appointment to meet with a Built Green Consultant before they choose a builder. Several of my referrals have gone through the Built Green process and were very happy with how the build process went.

    Amazing team of professionals provided an outstanding support in every step of our construction process- from initial consultation, to design, engineering, permitting, etc. If you are a first-time builder, like us, take advantage of the free classes they provide. Their classes are very educational and often are held at the actual construction sites so you can see it for yourself and meet their team and contractors. Their contractors are very professional, vetted and provide the best value and quality. Equity we gained at the end of the construction was great, sold the house before competing it and currently on our second build. Highly recommend!

    GREAT EXPERIENCE!! The BGCH process was as advertised, and Bryson was great to work with. While not for everyone, if you have a little bit of extra time and enjoy a challenge…you can absolutely create a LOT of equity! The part we enjoyed the most is being able to pick any contractor we wanted, and then working directly with them. After some headaches, and a lot of hard work…we just moved into our new home which is worth ~$600K more than it cost us to build.

The process was well established, easy to follow, construction estimate was on target, and Consultant assisted us through each phase. Being involved in the total process from lot preparation, selection of subcontractors and scheduling completion gave us a real satisfaction and understanding of everything in our home.

    Choosing BGCH is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was very concerned about whether I would be able to be successful as an owner-builder. Because of BGCH, the project was not only successful, but actually exceeded my hopes and expectations.     I have been Designing Homes for Owner Built Custom Homes for 14 Years and have Helped Hundreds of people design and build their dream home. This is a wonderful program that lets you be in controle of your building project. In my 20 years of designing homes I have never seen a program like this, they help my clients stay on budget and build their dream home for substantially less. The great thing about this program is any money you save stays in your pocket and doesnt end up in your builders pocket. I would highly recommend Owner Built to anyone looking to build their dream home. If you do not have plans yet please ask for Ellis 3D home designs and I will be happy to help you design your dream home.

    My husband and I are both in sales, work 50+ hour weeks and have two small children. If we can follow this program, anyone can. Highly recommend for someone who wants to save money, design their own home, learn the construction process and manage it yourself.We broke ground in July 2020 and moved in on June 4th 2021. Bryson was always just a phone call or text away if we had issues with anything and always reassured us on items when we were unsure.Would recommend getting references from previous homeowners during the process to ensure you are choosing the subcontractors that best fit your needs. If we ever build again we would definitely utilize BGCH to do so!

    So far, so good. Classes are the best part so far, and I would encourage anyone interested in signing with them to take advantage of these. They are free and you will learn a lot. You will also get to meet their consultants and some of their partners/suppliers in the process.We are still in the design phase so only time will tell how our experience will be. 4 months in, Im learning that this is definitely a lot of effort AND you have to stay on top of your consultants/designer. You are managing the timeline....not them. The sense of urgency will need to come from you. In fact, I have yet to see a Project Plan with a timeline...I had to put one together for the pre-construction phase.You also have to do your own fair share of research as there a lot of choices to be made when building a custom home! And its difficult when you dont know what you dont know. I have reached out to others who have built their own homes and probably found just as much value, if not more, from speaking with them about their experiences. Their consultants seem to be knowledgeable, but they wont necessarily say have you thought about....? The pre-construction manual is helpful but not thorough.I will update this review when we are farther along in the process. I find comfort in the fact that everyone we consulted who has used them before seems fairly satisfied. Not perfectly happy....but satisfied. Knowing that all builds have their own share of issues....thats probably good enough for now.Update: we completed our build. Whew! Long story short, we love the house and know that we made the right decision by going the Built Green way. It was a whirlwind of a year, and we made a LOT of decisions throughout but they were OURS with no change order needed. BGH was always there for us to lean on when needed. There is a reason why people from all walks of life decide to partner with BGH, and we tend to also support each other. It works!

    We had never built a home before, but Built Green made us feel like pros. The free classes helped educate & prepare us for each phase of the process, & the BGCH family coached & encouraged us through our build.Upon completion of our plans, we had a custom home builder bid our job, out of curiosity, to see how much we could save through BGCH. We were shocked when we finished at $65./sq ft less than the custom home builder quote. As with any build, working with contractors can sometimes be interesting, but we were blessed with mostly awesome ones, & were incredibly impressed how BGCH was always willing to go to bat for us.We are ecstatic with how our house turned out, & if we ever wanted to build again, we would definitely work with BGCH again.

    My wife and I are career corporate IT consultants and had zero experience building anything of substance but after attending a seminar hosted by Charlie decided we would give this owner builder concept a go. The architect listened to our concepts and after a couple of iterations came up with our 4800+ sq ft blueprints for FREE!Jan 2003 I followed the plan Charlie provided and broke ground! I called many a sub contractor to get bids for various skills, and to my surprise, of which many explained tips of their trade.Mar 2003 we discovered that I would need to have a brace in the middle of the garage to support the long span which I didnt really want. After a call to Charlie (he came straight away), he recommended replacing the support column with an engineered beam that spanned the length of the garage. The beam was delivered and installed the following day!May 2003 home completed and we hosted our eldest sons high school graduation party!I highly recommend and am planning to utilize their services for a future upgrade (2021/22)!Steve and Alicia
