I have lived here for five years now. I was on Tuscany Villas waiting list for a handicapped apt for nine years. This was due to the fact that handicapped apts are limited in number. I am glad I persisted with my application and waiting list placement. By staying in touch with the management team, irregardless of staff changes over the nine years wait…The Staff became well aware of my continued interest in this community.. Keeping my name on there waiting list for a handicapped unit only. Checking by placing a phone call once a year.I Read the other reviewers posts and frankly they are unfair.Staff turnover happens in any job situation. So politely explaining what I needed each time I called , helped facilitate my success in getting my desired goal met. My Politeness and Consideration went along way to ensure my application paperwork was not misplaced. Both The Plaza and Tuscany Villas offers retirement income residents very lovely apartments. Tuscany Villas @Chase Oaks is the sister property of The Plaza. The Plaza is larger in size, having more rental units available.. I like a smaller apt complex so I chose Tuscany Villas over the Plaza. I originally checked out both communities. Tuscany Villas has apt units for persons not disabled as well. Any one 55 and over can apply. Tuscany also offers garages and parking space . There is a beautiful clubhouse for us to enjoy and a pool. Unfortunately the pool is not handicapped accessible. Other amenities include a putting green. Exercise room. Beauty shop Business Center. Library . Movie Viewing Room.I am in love. I finally have a handicapped accessible apt. The entrance into the handicapped unit is extra wide.. Fitting both my electric wheelchair and crutches. The shower has a soft rubber tubing on the shower floor entrance making it easy for me to step on. Or roll over it with a wheelchair. The shower has a built in shower bench that can be flipped up out of the way for regular shower usage. It also has grab bars inside of the shower. And there is a flashing light for the deaf in case of fire. The kitchen has a built in open counter on one side so a person in a wheelchair can roll under it to prep food. Also extra drawers and cabinet shelves compensate for the wheelchair accessible kitchen and bathroom sinks. So very nice. I love having ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living room. There is also a small area for two bars stools on the opposite side of the counter top in the living room area. The kitchen cabinets shelves are adjustable. The appliances are very nice. I love the glass stove top. No coil burners to scrub! The maintenance man was kind and adjusted the kitchen cabinet interior shelves for me to better fit my needs.. I am only 4ft 6 standing up on my crutches. The maintenance staff also lowered the shelf above the laundry room utility area. They even removed the shower bench for me because I preferred my own shower chair instead of the built in bench provided. They also accepted my housing voucher with the Plano Housing Authority. There is plenty of hot water it is heated by gas with Atmos Energy. The heat and air are electric. I love the small patio balcony. The management team is nice and promptly make repairs. The bathroom in the handicapped unit is VERY LARGE . Equipped with a roll under sink for a wheelchair. A taller toilet w grab bars. And space for wheelchair transfers on and off the toilet .The walk in closet is large enough for my long dresser as well as my clothes. Some residents use the space the In the walk-in closet for their sewing machine.. There’s is an electrical outlet in the walk-in closet to plug it in.The management allowed my free standing medical lift over my bed. And the ceiling fan does not interfere with its operation. I am so happy I am living here in a safe, small, gated community Please give us another look You might be happy you did. Carrie Austin

My parents have been here for almost 6 years. They are lucky to be here. It is impossible these days to find an apartment that takes Section 8 voucher. Yes, they had some staff change, but with Covid the situation is similar everywhere. They are trying their best to fix whatever needs to be fixed, and sometimes it requires a few phone calls, but in the end everything is done. They have Food bank truck once a month to help in these hard times with food, which is great.
